Mario Kart meets Crash Bandicoot

The Bottom Line: If you haven't already purchased this game, then you are in for a treat and three quarters, you lucky, lucky people!!!!

INTRODUCTION
I own all the Crash Bandicoot games, and after Crash 3:Warped, I got abit bored with the standard Crash routine, crystals, gems, etc.Forget all those trashy kart sim games that tried to be the next Mario Kart because they were incredably disappointing!!! Then I got CTR:Crash Team Racing and was amazed at the change in the new game...
MODES OF PLAY
There are 5 modes of play in CTR.
ADVENTURE: a single player game where you race around each track to collect Trophies, Gems, CTR tokens, and Time Relics(3 kinds). This is an incredably fun mode, as you can play it again and again, with different characters. There are also a variety of different kinds of races to keep you busy. There are:
Trophies:you just have to finish first.
CTR Token:Race round each track, collect the letters C, T, and R scattered around the track, AND finish in First place. Takes alot of practice to master.
Time Relic:once you get the trophy on a race, you can go in again to get a relic, of which there are 3 varieties (sapphire, gold and platinum). There are time crates featuring the numbers 1, 2, and 3, which stop the clock for however many seconds it says on the box. Get all the boxes on a course, and you will get 10 seconds taken off your final time at the end of the race!!!
ADVENTURE MODE SCORES:10/10
ARCADE:You can race on a single track, or enter in a cup competition, where you race four tracks in a row. You are awarded points depending on where you finish in the race. If you have the most points at the end, you win! This mode is also Multiplayer, with 2-4 players taking part(You need a multitap to have 3 or 4 players taking part) or single player.
ARCADE MODE SCORES:10/10
TIME TRIAL: You race against the clock, to try and beat your time. There are no power ups or other computer controlled opponents, just you against the clock. It can get quite hard though, and you may get abit bored after awhile.
TIME TRIAL MODE SCORES:7/10
VERSUS (VS):This is a 2-4 player game, the same as Arcade, although there are no computer controlled opponents
VERSUS (VS) SCORES:10/10
BATTLE:This is probably my favourite game mode. You and up to 3 chums go head-to-head, in 7 specially built arenas, packed with power up crates, that'll see your friends (or foes)blown to smithereens.
BATTLE MODE SCORES:10/10
GRAPHICS:The animations in CTR are top-notch, and arenas and tracks are incredably detailed. And not a pixel in sight!
GRAPHICS SCORE:10/10
SOUNDS & MUSIC:The music in CTR is nothing to get excited about, but it is OK I guess. At least it is not unbearably loud, it just blends into the background pleasantly, and you hardly notice it. The sounds in CTR are absolutely brilliant! Each character has his or her own voice, and says different things. They are really very comical at times, and made me laugh anyway! The sounds of your karts while racing are really cool to. Your kart makes realistic sounds while racing, for example when you use a turbo boost, or run off into the grass or side dirt.It sounds very realistic.
SOUNDS & MUSIC SCORE: 9/10
REPLAY VALUE:What makes CTR so great is that there are so many things to uncover. There are loads of hidden secrets, like secret characters and extra battle arenas, that will keep you returning to CTR again and again. It is very fun, and you won't want to stop playing it. I have had CTR for about 6 months now, and I still enjoy playing it, especially the Arcade and Battle modes, which are a right laugh with you and your pals. I also like playing Adventure mode still, and trying out all the characters on the different tracks, and seeing which ones perform best on each track (useful for playing Arcade against friends because I always win). There are also tons of shortcuts on each track, so that you get the edge over the competition and stay in first! Time trial mode is guaranteed keep you busy once you have finished the main Adventure. (I still haven't conquered it!!)
