For what its worth, I/O Magic does not make these drives, they put their name on drives made by companies like LiteOn and others. From reading online forums, I've seen messages saying they've gotten 16X drives made by BTC and LiteOn. I don't know much about BTC, but the LiteOn drive is a pretty good model. You might want to rethink trying to get a replacement drive. I don't know that all of these drives are bad, if you ever can get through to I/O Magic tech support. Good luck.

I'm really sorry about the "somewhat helpful" rating on your review of the I/OMagic MagicDVD DR-DVD16 DVD-ROM - IDE / EIDE; unfortunately I did not get enough product info to make an accurate assessment of your review.
