I was shopping for a particular piece of electronics. I found it at CompuVest or so I thought. Their page showed price X. My on-screen receipt showed price X for product Y. HOWEVER, my post-order confirmation email showed price X 40 for a product OTHER than Y. Not only did they change the price they charged to my card, they weren't even planning to send me the correct item.
I immediately emailed them my CANCELLATION. Having an affinity for technology for it's own sake I use my personal webserver to embed images in email so I can track when my email is viewed. (Two) people at CompuVest viewed my email cancellation from TWO DISTINCT IP addresses THE DAY BEFORE they sent me their email confirmation of shipping.

SOUND FISHY? Yes, it was. Did they cancel my order? No. Why? I think they assumed I would forget their FRAUDULENT BAIT & SWITCH and pay for it anyway. uhhh no..
Eventually they SENT THE WRONG ITEM anyway having overcharged my card AFTER they twice read my CANCELLATION email. Naturally I had my UPS driver mark the item REFUSED.
Did it end there? No, of course not. Normal, civilized people apparently do NOT work at CompuVest. They could NOT BE BOTHERED to communicate with me. Wow, I enjoy American Express members' benefits. If only their battle squads from the TV commercials could dispatch the cretins at CompuVest!

Sure, they offer to communicate but they certainly have no such good intentions in this OR ANY OTHER respect.
The BBB or similar should investigate them. In the mean time all sane people should both AVOID SHOPPING THERE -- either looking at their site or patronizing their ILK. I have completed dozens of online orders in recent months but this is the only negative experience I've been unfortunate enough to suffer.
