Pros: Easily adjustable platform. Good image quality at 640x480.
Cons: Frame rate at 640x480. Incompatible palette produced for 8-bit mode.
The Bottom Line: If the ADS Pyro Webcam is able to run as advertised,
it is a great buy.

| cjinnaples's Full Review: A D S Pyro 1394 Webcam |
I use the ADS USB 2.0 Webcam and the ADS Pyro Webcam for the same application. Both cameras achieve very good image quality. While the ADS USB 2.0 webcam performs as advertised with 30 frames per second at 640x480 under Windows XP (DirectShow), the ADS Pyro Webcam for IEEE 1394 achieves only 15 frames per sec at 640x480. In addition, the palette produced by the Pyro Webcam for 8-bit mode is incompatible with other all other cameras I have used (at least a dozen)including the ADS 2.0 Webcam.
ADS failed to respond to two separate detailed descriptions of these problems sent to their technical support.
These cameras are attractive and have matching platforms that are easy to adjust with much better alignment than the Logitech Pro 3000/4000. ADS webcams are unique in providing large quality images at 30 frames per second. I waited in line to buy one of the first released Pyro Webcams and hopefully they will resolve the problems.
