A bought a Compaq computer system from Radio Shack about 2 weeks ago. The monitor was part of the package deal.
The MV5500 has the modern little bells & whistles of current monitors. It's compliant with motherboards that allow energy-saving system shutdown modes; the monitor also
has buttons that use an onscreen display for changing the display characteristics of the monitor, and of course a power button with an LED.
The 15" screen isn't huge, but it's the largest size I can fit with my computer station. The screen is not completely flat, but about as flat as you can get for a non flat-panel monitor. Viewable width is 13.8". Dot pitch is .28mm.
Display adjustments
The adjustments available for the display: contrast, brightness, horizontal shift ( moving the full picture ), horizontal width, vertical shift, vertical width, 'pinching' ( my own term to describe the length adjustment of the middle of the screen ), 'pyramiding' ( my term to describe the ability to change the ratio of the length of the top end of the picture compared to the bottom of the picture ), 'slanting' ( my term to describe the ability to 'lean' the display as if it was the Leaning Tower of Piza ), and refresh.
The monitor comes with a pair of moderate-size speakers that attach to the sides of the monitor; I haven't used them since i'm using a speaker system I already had.
The monitor has a standard warranty of 30 days.
The monitor comes with a stand that raises the monitor about 3-4 inches; the stand fits into a pair of slots on the bottom.
The monitor is heavy, weighing about 40 lbs.; the instructions recommend that two people may be needed to carry it.
