This is a great idea but as soon as I hooked it up I heard the periodic thumping another reviewer mentioned. It is as loud or louder than the actual program signal. The interference is very annoying and makes the system unlisten-able, at least for me. I tried all channels and even disconnecting the input, still thumps. Seems to be something in the design of the equipment. I'm sending it back but this whole experiment will cost me $10 in shipping.
I have looked around but cannot find the exact incarnation of this unit, ie. with the FM transmitter, anywhere. I don't understand why this is so difficult.
Update. Before sending it back I tried the unit at a friend's house and it did exactly the same thing using the line level function. In addition he we interested in the FM retransmit function which did not work even within 1 meter of the FM receiver. Evidently there is more than one problem with the design of this unit.
