Lies "Hose And Close" Phone Support = AVOID
by erics10333 | Feb 01 '03
After billing me, my order sat for over 5 weeks. {Promised build time is 15-20 business days.}

Was fed a different and contradictory story each time I asked for an update:

- It's finished and in testing
- Waiting on a part,...

Well, you're entitled to believe I'm "full of myself" - that's your opinion.

And like you have your opinion, mine is this:

- a 2 year old purchase of an Alienware machine is *not* relevent to anyone buying a machine today.

- Alienware is not the same today as it was 2 years ago.

- In fact, your review would be MISLEADING to anyone wanting to purchase today, given the ridiculous number of complaints about computers shipped that don't boot, that are missing parts, that have DOA parts, that obviously have not been subjected to their "stringent 200 point checkout"....

- You also have not dealt with Sales in over 2 years.

- a two-year old machine is an antique by today's standards, and especially in the gaming/performance PC arena.

So, your review is of little use to anyone wishing to buy an Alienware machine TODAY. The company has changed, the reviews over the last year-2 years are IMO 50-50 horror stories/good reviews, and your experience is not helpful.

That's why my opinion of your review is NOT HELPFUL.

If you believe that this is tit for tat or there's some other rationale apart from wanting to protect potential buyers from the horror story I or other people had - be my guest!

Finally, I note that each of my own reviews (3), had "not helpful" ratings applied by a "Hidden" Epinions.com account at precisely the same time you posted your objection to my review.

IMO, your full of yourself.

For starters, I have not marked a single one of your 'reviews'. I do not believe in a tit for a tat, that is just rude.

Second off, my review is a summary of experience WITH the company over two years.

I still interact with the company when buying systems for friends, and recently put in an order for a new one with them.

So I guess my review is VERY relevant for anyone looking to buy from them. Yes, whenever you deal with a big operation there will be problems. Look at Dell, Compaq/HP, IBM, list on and on and on. They all make good computers, but due to the volume, there are complaints. Lots of them. And human nature dictates that those that have a complaint must yell the loudest.

I do write reviews that critize companies/products, and I also realize how the industry functions as a whole. I do realize problems I may have with something may not hold true for others, and vice versa. Because you had a bad experience off of your limited contact does not mean all of us have.

And your reasoning is still poor for rating my reviews the way you did.

First of all, I note that you have done to each of my reviews what you accuse me of having done to yours.

The reason I rated your review as "Not Helpful" was because your experience in purchase, building and support with Alienware is OVER TWO YEARS old.

In the last 2 years, the company has gone from boutique builder to supplier to Best Buy. There have been a slew of complaints here, on ResellerRatings.com, on Alienware's own message board and elsewhere.

So, someone looking for a *relevent* review would not get it from your comments.

IMO.

Dude, it's one thing to have a bad experience, it's another to badly rate other people's epinions because of it.

Please retract your unfair and blatantly biased rating on my epinion immediatly.
