Pros: Small, stylish, rugged, easy to use, GREAT for workouts!
Cons: Headphones malfunctioned straight out of box, but who cares?
The Bottom Line: I spent alot of time, online and off, researching this product and similar products. For your money, for this type of player, this is a best buy, hands down.

| ewilliam's Full Review: Sonic Blue Rio S35 128MB MP3 Player |
This is my first portable MP3 player, and I needed something that would be suited for my workout. Truth be told, I couldn't be happier! The software it came with makes it incredibly easy to rip songs from your CD collection, fix their ID tags, and upload them to your player (all in the same program!).
The one con: the right ear on the headphones was broken before I opened the package, but do I care? Nope. I already have good headphones. The USB transfer is very quick, perhaps 10 seconds/song.
The player itself, however, is a real gem. The small size makes it perfect for the gym or any other physical activity. The carry-case w/ belt clip & armband make it very easy to exercise with; you don't even notice you have it on. The controls are very easy to use, and are logically based. The radio reception is so-so, but given that most portable players don't have a radio at all, I figure any reception at all gives it a leg up on those. The display and menu logic are also well-designed, making it very easy to control, even when you're doing something else. Overall, I just love the shape, style, and the ease of use. It holds over 2 hours of cd-quality digital music, and the sound (also dependent on the quality of your headphones, obviously) is impeccable. This can also be adjusted via an equalizer with pre-set genre settings. And while the 128mb onboard memory is plenty, the upgrade slot lets you increase it to 256 via mmc cards.
Lastly, I have seen a few reviews that complained about a lack of a "hold" button, making it very easy to accidentally hit a button if you have it in your pocket or bump against it. To those people, I say: read the instructions! Hold the menu button and press enter; that sets it in hold mode.
My suggestions: If you want a bulkier, more expensive player that holds 10 or 20 gigs, then this is not a good choice for you; however, if you're a fitness-oriented person, or just want portable audio, and are looking for a relatively inexpensive, small, durable player, this is the one for you.
