and these days im not that harsh or angry about this game- or any game for that matter, but i did it for good fun in those days, rather than professionalism. I just wrote this article to be funny more than anything and to express my dismal time with ff8.
All in all, I think I made it sound like the worst game known to man, and while I still kind of feel it was the worst RPG I ever played (if you've played a lot of RPGs you might agree), but I have to say I keep it just for entertainment's sake. I don't really write reviews like this, and it could have used more detail, it is short and to the point...
it is dated though and again not really reflective of me now, but of my "angry" high school years.

It was well written and very professional, not to mention ACCURATE!
I regret I ever bought the game and I agree, people who liked it would probably like an rpg with the graphics and storyline of Pacman if it was by Squaresoft. People need to realise that just because Squaresoft made excellent game like Final Fantasies six and seven, and Secret of Mana and so on, it doesn't mean every game they make is gonna be as good. I thought FF8's story was ridiculous and the characters had no personality or were just whiney brats. And of junctioning failed completely.
And I wish you'd stop squabbling and calling eachother 'lamers.' It's not achieving anything and is really quite sad.

I gave a very helpful, you got nice humor. Finally someone who knows why ff8 is crap. I'm sick of these new gamers, with no mind of their own and just follow the crowd.

actually there are A LOT of people who LOVE ff8 and really maybe some people just didn't understand the plot line. This game was the first real rpg I ever played and I swear, if it were not for this game i would never been introduced to rpgs and i would be just another....gamer...but i'm not.

Dude, CHILL THE #### OUT!!! Don't be so anal over the fact that this guy was telling the truth and the fact that this game sucks. Honestly, the so-called "storyline" is nothing but a hideious joke.

Hey man, one heck of a review you got there. FF8 lovers will hate you, but I love your review.
I am a big FF fan, but I hated FF8. You pretty much pointed out everything that I dislike about the game so I wouldn't add more.
Sad to say, FF9 is not a giant improvement either. It's good, but not great. Does anyone agree with me that Chocobo Hot & Cold is boring as f*ck?

wow! I revealed..er..one spoiler about the queen being cid's wife! I ruined FF8 for millions of potential buyers, and billions of more fan-boys. In fact..yes I'll admit it...zuluking is absolutely right...I just revealed the biggest and best plot twist of the game.
And my one spoiler reveals pretty much the entire games plot..so oh well now that you all know the game, no reason to buy it.
And for some strange reason it feels good to ruin FF8 because it plain sucks. Maybe I should include more spoilers, you fan-boy scum.

I respect your opinion even though I don't agree with it, but you should really stop with the spoilers. You told the reader several key plot points including the fact that the queen joins you. The main point of these reviews is to warn the consumer of the good or bad points of a game, not to spoil one of the only points of the game - the story.

You morons can't appreciate a good game if it walked up and bit your @ss.
Anyone who actually takes this guys review to heart should have a red hot poker rammed up their @ss. I happen to be a hardcore FF gamer and I know a good FF when I see one. All FF's except for Mystic Quest are good in their own way.
FF8 happens to be a good game because of its detailed storyline. But, then again you lamers are too busy thinking of all the "bad things" you can say about the game to get into the plot.
The reason Square made the enemies as strong as you was so that you wouldn't go around leveling up!!! It also made you think as to how to use the junction system to make you stronger.
On the subject of Emerald Weapon, HE ISN"T EVEN IN THE F*CKING GAME RETARD!!! There are only 2 Weapons in FF8, Ultima and Omega. I defeated Ultima at level 100, Omega requires ahead of time planning and junctioning which I choose not to do because Omega doesn't drop anything, nor does he give you any exp. All he does is give you the right to say you officially defeated the hardest boss (harder then Ultemicia) in the game.
Why waste your time going around looking for creatures with Ultima? You don't need it to beat the game. Why would they make the best magic spells in the game easy to find? Besides, Ultima is NOT the best magic in the game. I can do better damage with a single attack, then anyone can do with Ultima
