| rfman's Full Review: Xerox DocuPrint C6 Printer |
In itself the Xerox Docuprint C6 is not a bad printer. It provides surprisingly good print quality at 600 dpi (although you better be patient printing a full color page) and has 4 separate ink cartridges for black and the 3 base colors. This way you never end up throwing away a color cartridge because 1 of the 3 colors has run out.
But my problem are the cartridges themselves. At about 30$ for all four, they're not really that expensive. The problem is that you will end up replacing them every 250 pages or so. Within 2 to 3 months you will have spent more on ink that you did for the printer itself. It's basically a profit machine for Xerox. Once you have the printer, you might as well replace the cartridges... so you keep on buying them every month.
The paper handling mechanism also fouls up from time to time and drags 5 pages or so through the printer at the same time. This usually does not cause a paper jam, but it's still annoying.
I can really recommend this printer only for very light printing tasks. I use mine strictly for color printing, and I output all of my documents in black and white on a used HP Laserjet 4 than I acquired.
