The main thing to consider - T-mobile is great if you can get a signal. Make sure to really use the test period (I believe it's 14 days) to really see if you'll get adequate coverage in the areas you'll be using it most. Otherwise, get a refund fast!
For instance, if you commute, USE IT ON THE TRAIN, to see if you'll encounter huge gaps in coverage.
If you drive, drive around and test it out!
First, try it at home, then work, then the gym, then any other place you frequent.
The phones they have a great. Since it's using GSM technology, they have more advanced features in general than the competitors. Although AT&T just launched a GSM network as well.
And once you get a T-mobile phone, remember, you can slide out your SIM card and put it in another handset and use it - so switching/upgrading phones is not a big deal.
