I have owned this mobo for over two months. Since day one I have experienced nothing but problems, which in the beginning I thought could be dealt with.
At first it rebooted spontaneously. I replaced the cheap heatsink and then I started having memory errors. I tested my memory with memtest86 for 28 hours and it had no errors.
I would reboot the pc, come back to it later, and there would be a message on the screen saying that the computer has recovered from a serious error. In two months XP has produced 46 mini dumps, which are error reports to send to MSFT. In the last two days when I reinstalled XP I have tracked 6 errors with Explorer, LSASS.exe, COM+ which are all due to the instability of this mobo.
If you check out http://www.ecsusa.com and look for the K7S5A forum you will discover over 2500 problem reports. If you go to ezboards.com and look for this mobo you will find more reports.
It isn't a PSU issue, it isn't a sdram vs DDR issue, as people have upgraded PSU's and changed memory only to end up spending hundreds of dollars on an inexpensive board that in the end is an albatross.
My advice, from someone who has endured the pain, is keep away from this mobo.
Good luck.
