The Slipper Fits!Feb 19 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line A completely magical experience with no way to top it! We were married in Walt Disney World in November of 99, and haven't stopped talking about it since! While planning our wedding we had visited at least a dozen facilities on Long Island...each one more "not us" than the next. Flipping through one of a million bridal magazines one night I came across the Disney weddings ad. I joked that this was a great idea and that this way we wouldn't have to have the 300 person nightmare that is expected here. My husband and Dad agreed in a heartbeat! Dad loves Disney and the hubby although a big WDW fan loved the idea of keeping it smaller. Smaller however, didn't mean less expensive. we could have had a large wedding home for what it cost to have 40 people there, but so worth it. I was essentially just making decisions about once a week for eight months, with my "Fairy Godmother" or wedding specialist as they are called took care of everything including what my husband and I wanted to drink when we got to the reception. While I spoke to her once or twice a week, we didn't meet until three days before the wedding, when we got down there. Then I discovered how amazing and organized it all was. My coordinator had a three inch binder filled with every little detail, I never thought one person could be so thorough. We met at the Coordinator office for Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Department..get this...it's called "Franck's" like in the Father of the Bride remake. She had taken care of everything including cars, photographer, food, music and it was all perfect. We had timed it all so that a certain point in the reception we snuck away for a minute and with the Magic Kingdom fireworks going off over the castle behind us, we had pictures taken, these came out gorgeous! We had Mickey, Minnie and the Mad Hatter at the reception...how many people can say that? All posed and danced with us and our guests and made it all the more unforgettable. The food was wonderful, in addition to the cake we had white chocolate Cinderella slippers for desert that everyone was snapping pictures of. It is mentioned in conversation at least once a week either home or at work by friends and my patients who all went through the planning with me. Aside from wearing the wrong shoes (common complaint) I would do it all over again EXACTLY the same way. And with their "vow renewal" options...we just may. |
