In my efforts to put together a car stereo that is top-flight at sound quality while still not breaking the bank I turned to OnlineCarStereo.com. I lived in a tiny little town in the middle of Iowa (which doesn't have registered retailers for many of the best brands I might add) I didn't have many options to choose from, especially since I didn't want the same sort of Jensen junk that everybody else is using to make outlandish amounts of distortion. I had to turn to online stores if I wanted the best brands of car audio equipment and the one I found with the best prices, as well as free shipping (!!!!) was onlinecarstereo.com.
Okay so looking at the website you'll see they have great selection of car audio equipment, having almost every brand, style, accessory, make and model that your little thumping heart could desire. From a back-up remote controls and fuse-holders all the way to 2000-watt amps and CD receivers with option out the yin-yang, they pretty well have anything you'll need.
I've had two different experiences with onlinecarstereo.com. The first one occurred when my brother took his Rockford Fosgate Fanatic Q's out of my car, so I needed to replace one of the most important parts of my stereo, the component speaker set (which reproduce all the audio range beyond the range of my subwoofers). With the mindset of "why do anything halfway, go for the best" I went for the best in my opinion JL Audio. I chose the JL Audio XR650-CSi ($269) as my speakers of choice, which happen to be cheaper here than even JL's VR series is at a normal retail store. So I was satisfied with the price, but my order, which was supposed to be mailed out (via UPS) within 1 working day, wasn't mailed out for approximately a month and a half. I was aware that their was a JL shortage everywhere and that would have been my wait for them no matter where I went but when I e-mailed onlinecarstereo.com enquiring why I hadn't been given an estimate on how long it would take for them to be in-stock, they replied "We're mailing them today", which was a load of bull (however they didn't charge my credit card until they actually did ship them). When the speakers finally arrived I noticed the box they came in looked like it had been abused on a display room floor. Plus one of the dust caps on one of the woofers was bent inwards. Not wanting to complain and wait another month and a half I figured that it made no effect on the sound quality of the products (they weren't going to be seen anyway) and I used some electrical tape to bend the dust cap back out.
The speakers did sound great so when I decided the small Pioneer amp driving them wasn't cutting it for me I decided to give onlinecarstereo.com another shot. This time I decided on an MTX Thunder6152 ($189), again a good deal for that price. This time the whole deal went off without a hitch. The day after I order it I received notice that my order had been shipped and when I got it I could just smell the new all over it.
The website layout is really good, for my tastes at least. There are no pop-ups or need for advanced java, flash or other plug-ins. It opens up to the main page which offers the big bargains. On the left side you can go searching for products by type (speakers, amps, etc...) and on the right they let you navigate to what you want by brand names (Pioneer, Orion, etc...) which is welcome. I recommend if you know something about car stereo and the brand you want then navigate by the brands, it will keep you from having to wade through tons of stuff you don't care about. Once you get to something you're interested in you can click on the picture and it will give you a run-down of it's features, technical abilities, and it's regular price. The check-out process is the same sort of thing you do with every other website.
With the exception of products that are universally out of stock you should have no problems getting the very best car stereo has to offer from onlinecarstereo.com. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has even a modest interest and knowledge in car audio.
