The Bottom Line Quality beats out cheaper socks.
Socks are a product that are bought every day throughout the world. They are essential to everyone, from babies to the elderly. It is also important to understand the different concept of socks and their use.
Most people go to the store, buy whatever is the cheapest and are happy about it. Then later they complain that the socks are wearing thin in the souls, or the getting lose from the ankles up. Reason why?
Because the sock bought is a cheap quality material.
For purchasing reasons, cheaper is not always better. I have bought 75 cents socks that last maybe a month, to 10.00 socks that have lasted a couple years.
It is all in the material and sewing technique.
The cheap thin socks are good for casual wear but be prepared for after a couple of washings they will start to wear thin in the souls.
Wool socks are good quality, but costly. I hear the complaints that wool socks are itchy. You can make them "itch-free" but washing them in extra softner and use a product like "Bounce" in the dryer. Do not hang up to dry, they will smell.
Heavy cotton socks for outdoor events is what I usually buy for my husband. The quality is great, the cost is expensive, but I generally do not have to purchase more than six pair a year for his hunting needs. The sewing is indepth and never had a lose thread from them.
Medium cotton socks are what I purchase for regular wear for child, self and husband. Cost runs from 3.99 a pair to 5.99 pair. Sewing quality is high, stretching is low and thin'g runs eventually after three to five month wear and washing.
I have only bought four pair of nylon socks in my life. I, personally, do not like them. They run too easily in the machine and stretch out very easily. I bought only for "fashion" wear, like my wedding I bought white nylon socks with lace...cost 10.00. Never wore again, after the day was over I had a run from toe to heel. Second pair was black ones for dress pants, three washes and stretched out.
Other two pairs were for my husband for wedding affairs.
Remember when dealing with socks, cheaper isn't always the best. You will end up paying more for cheaper socks because you end up having to buy more than if you paid more for a better quality that last longer.
