| Suzer's Full Review: Good Stuff Burgers |
I am reviewing Good Stuff Burgers, the location in West Los Angeles. They also have restaurants in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. I can't tell you how many times I have driven by Good Stuff Burgers, and never stopped to investigate what they really offer. I assumed it was just another burger place, and I am making a sincere effort to eat healthier. After swimming/aquajogging one day I was absolutely starving, and happened to almost pass by Good Stuff Burgers just one more time, and on impulse decided to go inside. It was a little tricky parking as GSB is sandwiched (sorry) between a few other restaurants; a submarine place, Greek restaurant, Mexican diner, a sushi place, one lone cleaner, and all occupy a largish strip mall.
Here is Good Stuff Burgers self-description:
Sunny beaches, friendly people, beautiful sunsets and a healthy way of life is what Good Stuff Restaurants are all about. We have a fresh and healthy menu and we're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
We have daily specials, and be sure to check out our frequent buyer's club where we reward our customers for eating at our restaurants. All the Good Stuff Restaurants accommodate families, handicapped persons and large groups.
Decor:
Good Stuff Burgers is of course very casual, and set up in such a way that it is appropriate for families with kids, friends, anyone who wishes to eat in and enjoy, or for take out. The first thing I noticed walking into the restaurant was how clean it was, and secondly I noticed their menu boards on the right wall of the restaurant. The lighting is bright, about ten brand new tables with chairs in varied pastel shades. The chairs are small and the type that adheres perfectly to your back. You will notice cute vegetables painted on the wall. The counter where you place your order is purple, and there is a purple bar/counter against the windows with barstools available so you can opt to sit there if you wish. There are also two tables with chairs in front of the restaurant, should you choose to sit outside. This restaurant is very attractively decorated and comfortable, with a beachy/healthy feel to it.
Service:
I ordered up at the front, and the service was fine. They were polite, took my order perfectly, gave me the correct change. They were not effusive; nor were they rude.
Menu choices:
Here are some selections offered on the West Los Angeles menu, just to give you a taste, I mean, an idea:
(they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner)
Juices include fresh squeezed orange juice, carrot juice, and offer fresh fruit.
Some breakfast choices:
They do offer egg whites for an extra $.50
Eggs and your choice of bacon, ground beef, or turkey patty, or dijon turkey meatloaf ($4.75)
Island Breakfast which consists of tender white fish, two fresh eggs, fruit or brown rice and toast or muffin ($4.75)
Cassidy's Garden Omelette-this is fresh broccoli, mushrooms, onion, topped with cheddar and swiss cheese, cauliflower and carrots ($6.00)
They also offer what they call their breakfast stuffies (wheat pitas, lightly grilled) and scrambles, whole wheat pancakes, Sour dough French toast with cinnamon.
Good Stuff Burgers lists five different vegetarian burgers, ten different salads, nine sandwiches, three wrapps, including the garden wrapp, albacore tuna wrapp and the BBQ chicken and Bacon Wrapp.
Beverages are aplenty also, and include mineral water, fruit coolers, hot tea, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, Espresso, fresh ground coffee, Cafe Latte, Iced Cappuccino.
Desserts are fresh carrot cake, fresh baked cookies or brownies, strawberry smoothies, chocolate banana smoothie.
My experience:
The day that I decided to try out Good Stuff Burgers they were pretty busy with a fairly long line, and several families and groups of people sitting down at the tables enjoying their food. I placed my order at the front, and waited about 7 minutes for my Albacore tuna wrapp to be made, and packaged to go. The wrapp was absolutely delicious, and my only regret is that I didn't try this restaurant sooner. What was I thinking?
Final thoughts and recommendations:
As you can see Good Stuff Burgers has a pretty extensive menu for the casual diner, whether eating in or taking out. They will please the most discerning palate. I was very impressed that they can please the meat lover and also the vegetarian, without either one feeling their needs/desires are not being met. So, go yourself, go with a friend, grab the kidlets and go to Good Stuff Burgers in WLA, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach or Redondo beach! They even offer coloring placemats and crayons for the kids. They will display the finished placemat in the restaurant or take it home.
You will not be disappointed, and your wallet will be happy!
