My 8-year-old son loves to read! Well, sometimes he does. I admit that we sometimes have to stay on him about it. His interested are many and NintendoŽ and Play StationŽ are on the top of his list. But, he does enjoy a good book now and again. And of course at school he has to read and he is coming along rather well with it.
Recently I was searching the Web for ways to help encourage my son to read more and I came across a site that I think will help me to do that.
The Online Store
Childrens Book of The Month Club is turning out to be a place just for my son. (And a place that is keeping me in trouble with hubby!) There are many books to choose from just for his age group, which I like a lot! He can sit down at the computer and go to this site and work his way around with no problems. When he finds a book of interest he can click the picture of the book and he can go and read more about it. If he wants the book he will let me know and I will order it for him. No problems, no hassles! This is good!
When you first come on to the site found at www.cbomc.com you find a colorful homepage. Across the top you will find links that will take you to: Home, Search, Browse Subjects, Main Selections, Clubhouse and Sales and Specials. You will also find links that will take you at any time your account, shopping cart and help. Each link will take you to a different part of the site with various options. You will also find at the top left hand side, just underneath the main navigation bar, the search engine where you can put any Title, Arthur, Item Number or Keyword and if they have it the information will come up for you.
You will find on the left hand side of the homepage Browse where you can look through the books for the different ages of children. This is very helpful when you want to break down the ages to find the correct reading material for your child.
You also find on the left hand side Clubhouse Sales And Specials and various other links of interest.
In the middle of the homepage you will always find choices for different age groups with the hottest books on the market.
And on the right hand side of the home page you will find Main Selection Status Book Planet and the Top-Ten of CBOMC. These are always helpful I think because I can see what is available for my son. And he loves going to the Book Planet where he can find books just for his age group.
You can check your account at any time by logging in and you can feel safe ordering from the website. They take all major credit cards and you can pay your bill online if you would like to do so.
When I first joined I got 5 books for $2.00. I had to pay the shipping and handling charges of $14.25, which I thought was high.
Each month I will receive a pamphlet with the Main Selections of the month where I can choose to buy or not. I can go to the website and select my choice with ease.
I can always buy at anytime with no problems and the books are shipped directly to my home within 7 to 10 days and always on time. I can also order books for the grandbabies and have them sent to their home. This is a cool feature also. Of course a lot of websites offer this option now.
The site is very easy to get around and the pages load quickly. The pages are always colorful and inviting!
At the Club House you can find helpful information about books and there is a section for parents in giving ideas to help your child read more!
And you can always find out about upcoming releases under the Coming Soon link.
Contact Info and Other Stuff
Of course you can go to www.cbomc.com at any time. You can email them from the site. Now, I found that when I had a question for them my account number was already typed in for me. I liked this a lot because I didnt have to look it up.
You can also go to the help section to find out a lot more information from ordering, to tracking your order, your account and other helpful information. I suggest that you start here first.
You can check your Commitment status anytime by going to your account. Which is to buy 4 books over the next 2 years. Which is a good deal I think.
You can also add books to a wish list and check your shopping cart at anytime. These links are easily found at the top right hand corner of any page. In fact, most all the links are found on each page.
How I Feel
So far we have enjoyed www.cbomc.com. The site is very easy to get around and the prices of the books are not that bad. I really enjoy going to the clearance section to find books. A bargain is a bargain in my book.
My son can use the site with ease and I know that he cant do anything wrong. My information is secured and he cannot order on his own because he does not know the account password, which is protected. He an add books to his wish list at any time for me to see at any time. And that list has grown over the past several weeks.
He has been interested in bugs lately and I found him a book on insects and bugs that he has not put down! He has taken it everywhere with him. He can read the pages easily because the book was made for his age group. He also wanted a childrens Encyclopedia that allowed him to see high lights of bugs, insects, and other things that he has found interesting.
I have to admit that the cost of some of the books is a little high especially compared to Wal-mart. But when I dont want to go out searching the extra money is okay by me. Its not that much higher to order from here! The s/h handling is a flat fee of $4.49 for the first item and $2.19 for each item after. Now that can get costly if you order a lot of books. So you need to weigh the options of online ordering or shopping in the store. But from time to time its not to bad.
Over all we have been very happy with www.cbomc.com and have found the site to be very helpful for all of our needs.
I hope that this has helped in some kind of way.
God Bless!
