Oh, the woes of a pet owner. And how about those of you with little babies, or kids who act like, well, kids, or dare I say, messy spouses or significant others? I know you're spill-free, and perfect. We've all been there. Spills, messy spills, pet accidents. Professionally speaking, pee pee and poo poo. Okay, there are obvious benefits and pleasures enjoyed by pet owners, and parents too! When these little or big messes occur, to whom do we turn? Well, there are plenty of products available for spills and stains, and I've probably tried most of them. For pet urine I've used Nature's Miracle for the most part, and yes it does work. But, I am not ecstatic about it. I've used many of those carpet freshening foams after the initial cleanup, and they offer some minimal odor covering up benefits. A friend suggested to me that I try Resolve Carpet Cleaner. I balked! "But, it isn't specifically for pets!" She patted my little paw, and said it would be okay, and to give it a try.
Manufacturer's claims:
* Protects And Repels Stains.
* Makes cleaning easier.
* Cleans toughest spots & stains.
* Cleans & neutralizes odors!
Resolve® Spot & Stain Carpet Cleaner has a unique cleaning and protective formula to help repel stains and make carpet cleaning easier:
Resolve's packaging:
Resolve is attractively contained in a striking red spray dispenser with a nozzle you twist to activate, so you can get the amount of spray/coverage you wish, and has 22 fluid ounces of product. This is for around $5.00, so quite a deal!
So, what do they say that it will clean? The manufacturer's state that it will alleviate the toughest spots and stains, even including greasy stuff like food, motor oil and the off-putting pet stains. They further mention that it will leave your carpet soft and plush, and will protect/prevent future stains from setting into your carpet fibersNeutralizes odors by penetrating deep into the carpet.
What type of carpet can you use it on?:
Well, I am thrilled that you asked. Resolve notes on its packaging (described below) that it can be used on nylon, wool and/or stain-resistant carpet.
Reckitt & Colman's directions for use:
Before Cleaning: Test a hidden section of carpet for colorfastness. Remove loose dirt and blot wet soils with a clean, absorbent cloth.
Spray soiled area with Resolve. Wait 3 minutes. Blot or rub gently with a clean, damp, colorfast cloth or sponge. Rinse sponge or cloth and repeat until carpet is clean. Blot any excess moisture from carpet with a clean, colorfast sponge or cloth.
For best results they suggest you should:
Not overwet carpet. Use Resolve promptly after a stain occurs. Fresh stains are easier to clean. If the last portion of Resolve Carpet Cleaner is difficult to dispense, turn the trigger 180 degrees to face opposite direction. This will ensure full use of contents. If the cleaned area appears brighter than the rest of your carpet, it may need an overall cleaning. Note that certain stains may cause permanent discoloration even after cleaning. Do not mix with bleach or use in conjunction with other household products.
Warnings and recommendations:
Keep out of reach of children.
In case of eye contact, immediately rinse eyes with plenty of water, remove any contact lenses and continue to rinse eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

My experiences with Resolve:
I've found that for pet messes Resolve works better for me than any previously tried products, providing I follow the directions. No, I don't do the test area, as my carpet isn't "fancy", but other than that I do follow their directions. I have also used it for food spills, as well as when my bratty lab mix spilled/ate some hand lotion (it was safely placed on my computer desk, but she is ambitious). It has worked for everything I have tried it on. I love the scent, and I find that amazing for a product this effective. It could almost pass as a perfume, and frankly better than some out there, and yet it isn't overwhelming.
Negatives:
The only thing I don't like about Resolve is that it is sometimes hard to get just the right amount of spray using the spray bottle trigger, and when you get to the end of the bottle, there can be problems getting it out, but they do go into that in their directions noted above.
Final thoughts and recommendations:
Sorry so wordy on this review (okay, so some of you are thinking, so what else is new), but I really am pleased with this product, and want to encourage others to try it. It works on everything I've used it on, removes spots, stains, odors, hasn't adversely affected my carpeting. And, did I mention I love the scent? So, you can find this wonderful product online, or elsewhere.
Thanks for reading!
