Best Buy Online: Average Pricing with On-time Delivery

A few weeks after purchasing my Delphi SKYFi XM Radio and Delphi Boom Box at my nearest Best Buy retail store, I decided that I wanted a Home Kit so I could enjoy tunes on my home stereo.
Why I Chose Best Buy
After a very short search on the Internet, it was evident that prices were all about the same ($69.99). The only thing separating stores was either whether or not they charged State taxes and/or shipping.
At the time of purchase shipping was free and estimated shipping time was 2-3 days, which was fine with me.
One of the neat features I did notice was the option to check whether or not the product was available for pick-up at the store. Since the closest store that had it available was 35 miles away, I figured I’d save the time and money and order it online.
Shopping At Best Buy
I found the site layout very simple and easy to navigate. Product descriptions are ample. Their ThinkAbout™ Folder was a feature I found handy. As I scouted around, I kept adding Items for future review. Of course by the time I was done there was about $40,000 worth of electronics in it! ;)
If there’s one knock on the site, it has to be their reluctance to show prices on some items. Instead you have to add it to your cart to see it. Not only is it annoying, but a complete waste of time! A link showing “See Our Price” brings up a pop-up stating that what I outlined above. Thankfully, there aren’t too many items where they mask their price, or I may have been turned off rather quickly.
Ordering
Ordering was simple and uneventful. I received my e-mail confirmation after about 4 hours and was e-mailed with every event related to my order, including when it was shipped.
Accepted forms of payment are a Best Buy CC, American Express ,Discover, VISA/MasterCard and Best Buy Digital Coupons.
One drawback shopping online verses their retail outlet is in store purchases are protected by their Price Guarantee which will refund you the difference plus 10% if you find the item cheaper. Online purchases do not have any Price Guarantee in place.
Delivering the Goods!
From the day of order to my front door took 4 days and was shipped via UPS. My item was packed sufficiently to prevent damage, although the outside did show some dents, the item was unharmed.
One of the most annoying things I found post-purchase, was the bombardment of follow-up e-mails asking me to take a survey of customer satisfaction by a third party vendor. These continued for about a month and then subsided.
Overall
Besides the annoying follow-up e-mails, I would definitely shop at Best Buy Online in the future for both convenience and price.
