Pros: Versatile, when it works it prints very nice photos and does color copies
Cons: Software is awful; Machine now useless with new Windows XP computer.
The Bottom Line: If you have the time to mess with the software enough to get something out of it, fine. Otherwise, avoid this baby.

| peki's Full Review: Hewlett Packard OfficeJet k80xi Inkjet Printer |
I bought this machine hoping to have a document scanner with OCR capabilities and as a bonus, the ability to fax and make copies as well.
Installation was easy enough. However, the small booklet manual provided is of little help if you run into a problem.
I tried some document scans, only to discover that the software had cropped the images beyond where I would have cropped them. Being a logical person, I clcked on the "Scan" menu in the HP software program. Not a mention of cropping. After going through all the LIKELY menus, I found cropping under "File!!" Not exactly intuitive. I never could get the software to do any OCR. Perhaps three college degrees and 22 years of computing are not enough to figure it out.
I had no idea that, when I bought a new computer (the OfficeJet being less than a year old), I would not be able to use it with the new machine's XP operating system. There were no drivers available on the website. Another piece of junk.
