I admit it; I’ve shopped at Playboy.com—several times. More than a few times a year I find myself checking out the clearance aisle for finds for my soon-to-be-going-to-college son’s room. I’ve scored a director’s chair for next to nothing, pool cues with fully-clothed Playmates, and more. Be warned, there are scantily clad men and women on this site—if you’re uncomfortable with that you’ll want to avoid it. Also, unless you opt out, you’ll receive the catalog after you order. I didn’t have a problem with it but my neighbor who accidentally got my magazine was horribly offended.
Oodles To See
There’s a huge selection of products on this site—naughty to nice. Don’t worry, there’s a search engine plus logical “aisles”. For him there’s apparel and accessories (boxers, robes, etc.). For her there’s jewelry, lingerie, and apparel. For the home you’ll find barware, skin care products, smoking accessories, sporting accessories—golf, darts, billiards, bowling and volleyball. There are videos and DVDs, from Playboy Home Video, magazines, books and calendars. They offer a line of very expensive Playmate Collector signed artwork and other limited-edition merchandise for the serious Playboy enthusiast.
There are always great sale items—there isn’t a “clearance” section, the sale items are amongst the others so you’ll have to browse around for them. Most often they’re in the bath & body section. Some of my favorite places are the game room, bar (even though I don’t drink—the barware is still fun), bedroom (here’s where the naughty is at full peak!), and accessories.
The items are well described; they offer photos with the opportunity to enlarge them, and some of the high-end collectibles offer Quick-time movies to see the product up close.
One annoyance of the site is that you won’t find out an item is out-of-stock until you add it to your cart—at that time you’ll be given the opportunity to have it shipped when it is available or go back to shopping. I’d prefer to know before I’ve decided I have to have it.
Catalog Quick Order
You can shop from your print catalog on the website as well—just type in the catalog number and you’ll be taken to that item. Enter the Source Code from the address section of your catalog and any special prices offered in the catalog will be honored in the online store.
Registering
Painless and easy—sign up and your information will be stored for your next visit, you’ll be able to create a wish list, address book (to store shipping addresses if you’re sending gifts), order & item histories (only registered members have this option). During the registration process you have the opportunity to opt-out of additional mailings.
Payment
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express/Optima, Gift Certificate
Note: Your credit card will not be charged until merchandise is shipped to you. Any item(s) not in stock when you place your order will be shipped at no additional charge to you when they do become available.
Gift Certificates/Coupons
Redeem them at checkout by entering the code from the coupon or gift certificate in the appropriate box and the total price of your order will automatically be discounted.
Shipping
You’re given several shipping options at checkout (regular, next day, 2nd day)—each lists the exact price and estimated time of delivery. I think their shipping is very reasonable. For standard shipping, orders up to $25 ship for $3.95. Prices go up from there—over $300 orders ship for only $12.95.
Orders are usually shipped the next business day—they use wither USPS or UPS. Orders sent to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and APO/FPO addresses are shipped via Priority Mail for the same low fee. Most orders will be delivered 4-10 business days after they are received.
International Delivery
They ship world-wide. There are some exceptions – see the site for details. Additionally, there is some specific merchandise that cannot pass through customs at some countries—it’s at the country’s discretion what they allow. You are responsible for any taxes or duties at the time of delivery. Delivery is through DHL.
Plain Brown Wrapper
Don’t worry, your Playboy Store purchase will arrive in discreet packaging (with PB Products listed in the return address) that gives no indication of its contents.
Refunds and Exchanges
”Every item you purchase from the Playboy Store comes with a return privilege. We want you to be 100% satisfied with your selections. If any item you receive is defective or you receive incorrect merchandise, we promise to make it right with a refund or exchange up to one month after you receive your purchase.
I’ve never returned an item—every one of them has arrived in perfect condition, been exactly as pictured and described, and just what I expected. Had there been a problem, I knew that they would have offered me a return or exchange without hassle.
