Hello! I know David wrote this concert review a while back, but I just joined and wanted to comment...
My brother and I went to the Des Moines, Iowa stop of the "The Strangely Normal Tour - Phil Joel, Earthsuit, V*Enna & Katy Hudson"
The main reason I went was to see LaRue and Katy Hudson. LaRue, which I had seen in concert once before, did NOT show up, due to their vehicle sliding off the road in Nebraska. So I was really disappointed about that.
My brother and I arrived at the church where the concert was to be held, and got there about an hour an a half before the first show was to start, so we saw all the bands pile in without their makeup and stuff on...So that was scary!!! hehe
Katy Hudson was awesome! She was the first to come out and perform. She sang onlt 3 songs, which was a bummer, but oh well. At first I really didn't like her, but she has really grown on me. She has a fresh new sound and talent that is incredible, especially for her age.
Earthsuit was ok, I'm not much into their type of music. But I have to say the lead singer, Adam has awesome sunglasses, and would be the life of a ANY party with his special robotic-type dance moves.
V*enna again is not my type of music. But if you like the pop-teeny bopper-girly bands, then you'll like them. They sang 4 songs, if I remember correctly, all of which were the "make you feel good" type of songs, kind of with no subtance, but that's just my opinion.
And Phil Joel was really cool. (did he wear the same shirt for the entire tour? cause every pic I've seen of him in this tour he had the same motorcycle shirt on)His part of the concert was totally awesome, with video in the background on the screen and words so you can sing-along.
