My computer is 500 Pentium 3, 192 MB RAM, Win98
I got DSL because I was tired of having slow loads from dial up. SBC Yahoo! DSL gives you the speed you need to download and browse the internet. The speed is the best feature about DSL, but SBC Yahoo's attempt to get into the ISP business has been more frustrating for suscribers like me.
First of all, you get a free speedstream modem with subscription with SBC Yahoo! DSL. Activation is free. Installation of the modem card hardware in the PC is explained into detailed.
The installation CD that comes with it helps you with the installation process of the peripheral equipment (phone lines, modem, Etc). The CD also installs the browser SBC Yahoo! uses.
Now the browser that Yahoo! uses is more of a pain. I never use it to browse the internet. It drains the system resources a lot, causing the computer to slow down. Not to mention it's completely useless, you'd have the same options with Internet Explorer.
SBC Yahoo! also installs a connection manager to the modem which I find helpful in diagnosing problems with a connection. SBC also installs a support software by support.com. I think this is actually spy software, because it does not do anything except gather your system information. It sometimes freezes the computer and you will have to go to program manager in your windows system and terminate the tgshell/tgcmnd program.
What SBC Yahoo! makes up is a subscription to it's ALL STAR Games network, large briefcase storage, Encyclopidia Britanica online subscription, and others. You get to choose two.
