Similar experience (Reply to this comment)

I've had a similar experience with our Lane recliner. Unfortunately, I do not know the model number, but it is a high back chair with wings and it is a glider-recliner. We bought this in April of 2000 and had the rocker/recliner mechanism (it literally fell apart)replaced under waranty (parts/labor paid by Lane) less than a year later.
Apparently, this mechanism is designed to last approximately one year, because less than a year later it collapsed again, and this time Lane wouldn't repair it (labor part of waranty ran out) but they would gladly arrange for me to have the chair repaired for $70! Instead, I opted to have the mechanism sent to my house, and I installed it (a nightmare of a job...plan on a whole day wasted).
Well, about a month ago (a year after the last replacement) the chair started making noises again, and parts started falling off and lo and behold...the mechanism collapsed again...this time with my wife's elderly grandfather in it! With his spinal condition, he could have died as a result of this piece of junk!
Lane should be ashamed of themselves and should pick up the bill for having this chair replaced! I will never buy Lane furniture again. We have a Berkline chair (also a rocker-recliner) that is 13 years old and is still functioning fabulously. I've been told that the best furniture comes from Berkline, Lane or La-z-Boy. The name Lane does not belong in the company of Berkline and La-Z-Boy...actually, I've never owned a La-Z-Boy, but I might soon!
