This JVC camcorder makes a very good gift for someone looking to film simple things like home videos and school projects.The fact that it is easy to use and has all the basic features that a camcorder needs makes this one also very appealing for the price. If you want to make short (or long) films, then consider a different camera. The battery life will not last long enough for you to work much, unless you keep on turning the camera off and then on again. Editing tools are minimal, the only thing that you can do really is manually cut out a scene, which in itself is hard because you have to time it just right. Go with this if you are buying a gift for someone or just want an average camera for a low price
