HONDA CIVIC 91' Hatchback DX
Picture of my profile is my car
It was less than a summer ago that I was still without a car. Mostly because I didn't need a car before that, I was still in highschool. But going to college would be a totally different ballgame. I NEEDED A CAR...
Being the person that I am, I take extreme precautions before making any purchases. So I shopped around in my girlfriend's 91 Honda Accord. Volkswagons, Hondas, Nissans, Mazdas, Audis etc... I was looking for a hatchback. After all, they have the greates gas mileage. About two weeks in garages, retailers, and used car lots, I finally give in and give the newspaper a try. 91' Honda Civic HB, 40,000 MILES.
WOW... a 9 year old car with only 40,000 miles on it!!!!
Skipping ahead, I have driven this teal mobile for almost 10,000 miles, and am forever attached to this simple yet sexy machine. Sure, it takes 10+ seconds to get to 60 mph, but guess what, I guarantee there's no better way to avoid a ticket than with a slow car. Now don't get me wrong, even though the acceleration isn't the greatest, you can still run grandma of the road. Forget that about the speeding ticket, I am always gonna need a radar detector, cuz this baby runs good at 95 miles an hour, and once I even took it to 113 mph...HEHE....
One could never tell this car is almost 10 years old..the paint job looks like new, and you can still almost smell the newness on the interior. In the meanwhile I have installed a killer soundsystem that makes my car sound like a symphony hall as well as a dance club. Even with my bass turned up on my 12' MTX 8000 subwoofer there is absolutely no vibration, and you know what, it being a hatchback it is airsealed- no thump escapes the beast.
REPAIR:
-------
This story is almost too good to be true. At 48,000 miles my brakelight comes on. WHAT THE HECK?!?!? I go to the shop and they have to make a 300 dollar repair, replacing the brake drums and shoes. From what I understand this is normal for a 9 and half year old car. Oh well it runs great now.
NEAR MISS:
----------
So I was driving to work one morning. Probably too fast because I was late. KABLING, KABLOENG.... NO WAY I SAY....
nothing happens....
I continue driving but I notice an uncharacteristic shake whenever I reach 45 mph....
I'm nearing the entrance to the parking lot that serves the retail store I work for...
KABLING, KABLOENG, POOOOOOOFFFFF...
I've got a flat....
This was fixed too---- supposedly I didn't keep enough pressure in my tire and the strain got the best of my left rear tire....
GAS MILEAGE!!!:
---------------
Any college student needs a car with this mileage. 37mpg if I'm lucky. I only need to refill my tank once a week, and it cost me only 12 bucs even though the gas is so expensive. I LOVE IT
