The TVSTAR On-Key karaoke mic is fun for the whole family!
What it is: It's a microphone with computer technology - everything you need to sing karaoke with lyrics on your TV all in 1 piece. All you do is hook it up to your TV (standard RCA a/v jacks) and you're ready to go. The controls are on the microphone to scroll through and select songs, use the features, control volume levels, etc.

Features: The On-Key button automatically lets you sing on-key. How? Through technology that takes your voice and adjusts it to match the key each lyric is meant to be sang at. It really works! At first, it sounds like 2 people are singing, but what you are hearing is yourself really singing, and what you're supposed to sound like on-key coming out of the TV speakers. The better you sing on key, the less it will sound like 2 different people singing :-)

Check your ability to sing on-key:You can also choose to sing without the help of the on-key button - and if you want to be judged, you can set it to give you a thumbs up or thumbs down percentage on just how "on-key" you're singing. At the end of the song, it will estimate how well you did, and if you did well, it even gives you some applause. This feature is cute, and can help you learn how to sing a particular song better!

Voice Change: You can change your voice to sound like a male or female - this works well! Also, an alien or a robot - this is fun too. The only thing is, you can hear yourself sing so it's kind of weird sounding, but extra funny for others to listen to!

Duet: You can select this to create the illusion that you are singing with someone else. A female can chose a male duet partner, it takes your voice, changes it to male form and adds it to your real voice - sounding like there's a man singing along with you. This is cute too.

Slow down/speed up tempo pitch: This is pretty cool, you can slow down a song or change the pitch if you want to sing it in a different way. Fun to goof around with this feature. Key to high for you to reach? Change it!

There is also a button to change the sound of your voice, with or without the on-key button on - there is shower, mountains (lots of echo) and a couple other. This is fun to play with too.

50 Songs! This comes with 50 songs already loaded, actually a pretty good variety. From Brittany Spears & N'SYNC to the Star Spangled Banner to oldies like My Girl and Stand by your man.

This comes with software for your computer - you can download additional songs for .99 each at www.onkeysongs.com. The selection is pretty limited, but you can request a song and perhaps they'll make it for you. There are also some song packages you can buy, so you'd get a bunch of songs for a special price. The TVSTAR can store up to 150 songs.

Overall this is a really cute item, and a lot of fun. With all the songs stored in memory, there's no need for CDs or cartridges so it's extremely portable. I don't know if the price has come down on this everywhere, but I found it on clearance at WalMart for $39 - which is worth the 50 songs alone really, when you consider the price of CD-G discs, so at that price, I definitely recommend this item! Maybe it will bring those people normally afraid to sing out of the woodwork, since everyone can now sing on key!
