The Bottom Line: If I knew what I know now, I probably would have gone with a cheaper player, although I can't guarantee that, I'm a sucker for cool gadgets.

| beckthebuck's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-30S MP3 Player |
This player has some really nice qualities and some fairly annoying ones too. I'll break it down for ya:
Appearance
This is one of the coolest, smallest, sleekest mp3 players out there. It's silver, has this neat movable bottom and a decent display w/song title, battery life, space left & a full menu. Very light weight & techie looking. Packaging is the same way. (read: they have a great marketing dept.) Also player seems to hold up to being dropped as I've done so about 4 times so far.
Functionality
The player itself functions well. It's user friendly and basically has a "do it all" button that you control all the player functions with. It has a hold button which has provided infinitely useful. And it comes with a very sturdy case/clip & arm band for exercising.
The player runs off of 1 AAA battery which means you basically have to change the battery every week. Or at least I do. (I listen for about 30 mins on average, a day.)
I have had issues with the display not turning on, just being sporadic.
Also, you'll have to buy a decent pair of headphones b/c the ones this comes w/are short & small. I recommend the nike/phillips exercising ones if you're going to use this player for exercise.
Software
In my opinion the software is one of the major drawbacks of this product. Maybe it's windows XP, but can we say SLOW? I have a very decent computer that should have no trouble w/speed and it takes FOREVER for this sucker to not only "find" the player (~1-3 minutes each time) but the software is ugly, confusing & slow loading itself.
Support
This is the worst part of the product. The Samsung website completely fails in the Yepp support area. The user manual, which is fairly decent, at times points to the website for further instruction and it is NO WHERE to be found on that website. Very frustrating.
all in all...
I haven't taken this back, YET. Granted this is my first mp3 player, and there are definite things I like about it but there are definite drawbacks as well.
