| surferdude7's Full Review: MAG InnoVision LT 565 (15 in.) Flat Panel (TFT) Mo... |
The Mag LT 565 is a 15 inch TFT-LCD monitor that gives you a true 15 inches of a viewable screen. This is a flat panel monitor for under $300 after a $50 mail-in rebate. At a price of $329 minus a $50 rebate brings the monitor down to a nice low price of only $279.
For those of you that have a 15 inch tube type monitor now, remember your tube type 15 inch monitor is only about 14 inches viewable. This extra once inch for viewing doesnt sound like much but when you compare them side by side the one inch with the more brilliant color display will make you want one over the older tube type monitor.
Features
The Mag InnoVision LT 565 includes a pair of built-in stereo speakers. The speakers are small and produce a high treble sound until I boosted up the bass and lowered the treble sound through the computer.
The LT 565 gives you resolutions of 640x480, 720x400, 800x600 and 1024x768 with a 0.297mm dot pitch. It gives you multi-scanning at horizontal frequencies of 31 KHz to 60 KHz and vertical frequencies of 60 KHz to
75 KHz.
It is made for the PC & Mac compatible and MRII compliant.
The LCD display comes with a stand that does not tilt or swivel the LCD and the base of the stand is weighted down to keep the panel from tipping over. The LT 565 can also be wall mounted. The monitor has a silver tone color in the front with the stand and back of it being black in color.
The controls for the monitor are on the right side of it for power, volume and menus selections.
The connections are an AC plug, a standard monitor plug and an audio connection.
In front is a light that is green during use of the monitor and turns yellow when not in use. You can also turn the monitor off and no light will be on.
On-Screen Menu
The menu system is easy to use once you play with it a little bit and get use to maneuvering around it.
The menu gives you seven Languages to choose from. There is a Reset that sets it back to the factory settings and what I love is the Auto which automatically sets the screen to the right VGA settings.
The menu lets you change the Horizontal and Vertical positions.
Other settings to choose from are Cool or Warm settings, Contrast, Brightness and Phase.
Overall
The price and quality of this flat panel monitor makes it a bargain. The color is brighter and clearer than the older tube type monitors. When moving to the side of the monitor the color darkens the farther you move, though on a computer you are generally directly in front of it. Games run fairly well on it with more brilliant colors tham that of my Sony Trinitron monitor.
My use for this monitor was not for the computer even though I did hook it up to the computer to see how it would perform. I bought this monitor to use it as a TV. My wife and I have been wanting a TV for the kitchen counter but the conventional TVs are just too big in depth, so we looked at the flat panel TVs and at $899 for a flat panel was more than I was willing to give. I ran across the ViewSonic NextVision N4 Video Processor which is a TV tuner made for a computer monitor. With the N4 Video Processor and the Mag InnoVision LT 565 monitor, I now have a flat panel TV for the price of around $400 verses the flat panel TV at $899.
Using the Mag InnoVision LT 565 as a TV worked well, the color and quality of the TV picture is excellent. The only drawback is the small speakers built-in the monitor produce a high treble sound and I have no way of adjusting it unless I add some outside speakers that have a bass and treble control.
Overall I recommend the Mag InnoVision LT 565 for the computer and as a TV if you have a TV tuner.
