EAS [Experimental and Applied Sciences] has always been a powerful name in the world of sports nutrition and supplements. Their magazine Muscle Media [formerly Muscle Media 2000 also known as MM2K] serves as their main source of advertising which is one of the main reasons I stopped reading it, yes, you read that right why I stopped reading it. Who wants to pay for a magazine or subscription when every other page is an advertisement or pitch for a product? Ive tried some of the EAS products, some worked for me and other didnt so I wont praise or bash their product line but rather give you some insight about their storefront and website. You might just think that its just an internet store but if you dig a little you will be able to find some good information you just have to sift through the subtle product pitches and EAS pimping while you are reading.
Site Design & Navigation
At first glance the site might not seem that big but once you start digging through the links youll have a different opinion. The site is pretty dense with graphics so if you have an older computer or a slow connection to the internet it might be a little hard to get around. Occasionally you will come across a link that doesnt contain any information or is being updated but these are few and far between. There isnt any questionable material at the site outside of girls in swimsuits and men in posing briefs so if that doesnt offend you you are good to go. Pop up advertising is kept to a bare minimum and they are only in conjunction with the areas of the site that you are visiting. Maybe its just me but I expected the site to have a little more information and presented a little better.
Products Available
If EAS makes it, youll be able to find it on the site but for some products you might have to dig a little. The Myoplex line looks like it is the one with the most individual choices [Deluxe, Carb Sense, Lite and Original line] but they also have all the muscle builders and post work out supplements that top their sales lists. A few very familiar names include Phosphagen, RiboForce, Joint Mobility and InsuLoad are just a few of the products youll find for sale at the site. Youll also be able to pick up the AdvantEdge series of bars, drinks, powders, soy and whey proteins and carb control products. Thermogenic products are available but the selection is rather skimpy. You can view all the products from the main page by clicking the order form link or the product link at the top of the page. More information is always available on the left hand side of the page when browsing products as well as in the FAQ section or the Questions section of the site. If you are still confused or have questions, call the toll free number for help.
EAS Sourcebook
Regardless of your overall thoughts about EAS or Bill Phillips, this section of the site is a great place to start learning about the basics of transforming your body, getting into shape or the basics of proper nutrition. A few of the sections still arent operational but the FAQ section gives you information about the EAS products, tips from BFL winners and current competitors and gym techniques. This section has a lot of potential but without constant updates and new information it loses its charm after a week or so. You will also be able to get information on two of the EAS publication Muscle Media and Energy. Both of these sections are filled with links and articles that reflect what is featured in the respective magazines.
Body For Life
When this program and contest first came out I thought it was a complete joke but obviously I was wrong. The idea is this dedicate twelve weeks to building a better body and you could win your share of cash and prizes that are offered. I know a few people who were challenged by spouses or significant others to start and complete the program and they say that it changed their life. There are several BFL product packs that can be purchased some that include a Polaroid camera, body fat caliper, record keeping book etc and others that just give you the basics. You can sign up for the free BFL contest packet at the site to get more information or to start your own twelve week challenge. As a bonus, when you sign up for the competition you get a $10.00 gift card that can be used at the site for any EAS product. You can get more details about the Body For Life challenge, training and see other peoples results at EASs sister site www.bodyforlife.com
Products Purchased
I am a sucker for a gimmick. Be it filling out a form to get a free sample or some new product that a company came out with. A friend of mine raved for weeks on end about the EAS Piranha line of products saying that they were the best drinks and snacks he had ever tasted. After listening to him squawk about them for so long I finally decided to cave in and give them a try. The only trouble was there werent any local retailers carrying them so I turned to the website and ordered it direct. There were only three flavor choices available [orange pineapple, citrus and fruit punch] so I went with the one that I thought would be the most palatable fruit punch. Other than that big purchase Ive ordered smaller items for both my brother and neighbor for holiday gifts. I dont consider myself a regular shopper at the site since I might purchase [at most] three to four things per year.
Club EAS
I never understood club cards or membership cards like the Club EAS or the GNC Gold Card. You have to pay to save money? Generally they are banking on the fact that most people that jump into a fitness program usually give up on it after a few months before they have the chance to take advantage of the accrued points [Club EAS] or all the of the special sale dates [GNC Gold Card]. For $29.95 you can become a member in Club EAS and receive a 30% savings off of regularly priced items as well as getting 250 bonus sign up points. The points are banked for you when you make purchases and each time you reach 250 points you earn $10.00 in free EAS product. So when you sign up and pay for the membership you are getting $10.00 back sort of. There are also other perks of joining the club like member only specials and sales. To get all the details check out the website or call [800] 297-9776 and ask for department CR139.
To me this would only benefit people who are completely dedicated to the fitness lifestyle, dont live in an area where EAS products are sold or those that are EAS product specific people [those who use only their products].

Return Policy
EAS products are backed by a pretty powerful guarantee. You are covered by a no bull, lifetime warranty on each product you purchase providing that it is the first time you purchase it. Example you purchase Myoplex and dont care for it or it doesnt work for you. If this is the first time you have ordered it you can return it at any point in time for a refund or exchange. Mail back the product, invoice from EAS and make sure you send it certified so you have proof of shipping to the address [Mail Order address] listed above. You might want to call the toll free number first to see if you need to provide any written information or in case it is a specialty product. Now, lets say this is your fifth purchase of Myoplex, you are still covered by their guarantee but only for thirty days. One thing to know is that this does not cover products purchased from other websites or products purchased at retail stores. If you are unsatisfied with a product purchased elsewhere you have to return it to the seller for a refund.
Payment Options
You can pay for your order using MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Card or via money order or check. They have some pretty strict rules about using credit cards at the site and shipping to alternative addresses. Please make sure you read over all this information before you place an order so you dont have to wait for confirmation or clarification [home address, delivery address etc] from EAS or your bank. Orders paid for my check are held for up to fourteen days or until it clears and the funds have been verified and drawn upon. To order using a money order or check, print up the order form, complete it and mail it with your payment to the above listed [Mail Order] address. Ive only used my Visa card to make purchases at the site and have never had any trouble placing an order, being charged an amount other than what was displayed during the check out process, hidden processing fees or any duplicate billings.
Shipping
Shipping fees are calculated by the total amount of your order and orders are shipping several ways depending on where you live. For international shipments you should call the toll free number to get the exact cost before you place your order or if you have specific delivery instructions. There isnt a flat rate fee attached to each order so you wont get hit with hidden charges. Most of my orders have been in the $50.00 range which is the cut off point anything under $50.00 is $8.50, $50.01 and over [to $75.00] is $10.50. These rates are subject to change so make sure you call if you are placing a large order. Most of the items I ordered arrived via Federal Express Ground but that isnt carved in stone you might get your order via the USPS or another carrier depending on size.
The Bottom Line
I never had any trouble ordering from the EAS site, receiving what I ordered or getting around the site. The site is a great place to turn to if you cant find what you are looking for at the authorized dealers in your area [most GNCs, selected grocery stores, selected gyms etc]. As far as pricing is concerned you are better off to check Target and Wal-Mart for the common items like the AdvantEdge line as well as Carb Control. For the thermogenics and more specific products youll have to go to GNC or order through the website. The key to getting the best deal possible is to check the prices locally then the website and factor in the discounts that are available at the EAS site as well as the shipping cost.
As a whole the site is reputable, honest and backs its products with a great guarantee. If I need to purchase an EAS product and cant find it locally I order it through the website to ensure that I am getting a fresh product as well as the lifetime for first time purchase guarantee / 30 day guarantee for subsequent orders. Sometimes you wont get the cheapest price, but it is worth it to pay a few dollars more for a product and know that I can get my money back if I dont like it than to get stuck with something that just isnt for me.
As always, thanks for the visit!
