Blue Mountain has "spruced up" since I have last been there. It no longer has the calendar reminders down the left side, which is fine with me as I never paid much attention to them anyway. I go shopping for greeting cards when I forgot to get someone's birthday card in the mail in time (ah, come on, I'm not the only one) or when I want to just brighten someone's day. In that case, I'm usually looking for something humorous. I can usually find a couple that I like at the time. Of course, I'm the cheapskate who goes for the free greetings. However, in the past, I have used Blue Mountain for a gift in addition out of desperation. I would pay for a greeting if it was really special.
To begin with, Blue Mountain has tabs at the top for eCards, Create a Print, Gift Center, What's New, and a Help tab.
The eCard tab has all categories of greetings (along with many ads..guess they have to make up for cheapskates like me. In this area you will find categories like Holidays, Birthdays, Celebrations and then there are all types of specialized Family and Extended Family, Kids, Teens, Religion, Arts & Letters and Seasons. In the "FREE" section, they have basically the same sentiments, they just seem to be categorized a little differently. There are items like, Love, Stay in Touch, Friendship, Just because and more.
Then, more fun under the topic Create & Print. This was just too much fun for me. It has two specific portions; one is "occasions" and the other is "projects". All projects are complete with an online editor with font changes and much more to make items you can just print and send or use. I printed a couple of bookmarks right off the bat and am going to laminate them for myself. There is a category for anything you can think of and probably some you hadn't. First comes the occasions...any occasion you can think of will be at your fingertips. The second portion, Projects has announcements, bags, bookmarks, envelopes, cards and so much more. In fact, I finally just had to make myself quit and go back to doing something a little more constructive.
Under the Gift tab you will find primarily flowers, but there also are other "Boutiques" covering the "Balloon Boutique", Sweet Shoppe", Stuffed Animals and some others.
Then there's the "What's New" tab beneath which you will find what's new in greetings and gifts. At the time of this review, under the "Share Some Laughter" the Birthday Bunnies, just cracked me up. I hope they are still there when you visit.
I found the entire experience pleasant, the site easy to navigate and the ads tolerable since I was plucking what was free. It is well constructed (I wouldn't have said that the first time I used it), as it has improved with time. I plan to make many more trips back to send friends and family fun greetings and make some more of their projects.
