Saturn - the forgotten console

Written: Feb 16 '01
Pros:Good games from Sega, Capcom & Namco
Cons:Bad games from everyone else
The Bottom Line: After consideration I would recommend anyone to purchase a Saaturn, the back catalog is quite good but not vast

The sega saturn had everything going for it when it launched in the UK, it preceded the Playstation, had support from Sega, but the lack of advertising and games plus the hype that was being created by Sony scuppered the success of the Saturn. After Sony releasaed the PS, the Saturn was always on the back foot. The lack of software and public apathy for the saturn led to its demise which was a shame as the saturn was and still remains a very powerful console, but the difficulties in programming the more complex Saturn was one of the reasons that the software was slow to come. There are some gems in the line up, such as sega rally and houses of the dead, but all in all the level of support from SEGA UK was sadly lacking. I own one and still play on it, but the controllers are fragile and the Scart to AV cable costs £50 and breaks quite quickly as it is not a very good cable.
