I would highly recommend the Sherpa brand. It is a complete carrier.

I am so gratified when I find an opinion that is fun to read and detailed enough to satisfy my literal brain. As a pet advisor I look for certain things, and your review provided them all.

By the way, my cat has yours beat in weight 25 pounds not fat just huge LOL.

... is skittish too? Now I know I'm not alone. I just hope our cat doesn't include us on the list of "most people." Hopefully it's just shyness.

and the great review. It would be great though
if I wasn't so visual. I can't get rid of the thought
of Licorice bouncing off of the wall, in fear
from your sneeze.

My fifteen pounder, Bridget is very loving but
neurotic as heck, and licks her fur off of
her stomach. I almost wish she would suck
her thumb (paw) instead.

Anyway, lately I have put a couple of drops of Bach's
Rescue Remedy in the cats' water daily
and she seems over a period of a week or two
to have relaxed. This stuff does work for
most pets.

The carrier sounds great, but I naively keep
using the cheapy cardboard wannabe carriers.

I'd rather walk cross-country barefoot and backwards... (Reply to this comment)

...than travel with any cat. I've tried driving with the cat in the car, in a pet carrier and out of a pet carrier. I've tried flying with the cat in the cargo area. I've tried boarding the cat and have someone else "ship" her via plane. I've tried having someone else drive her. I've tried drugging the cat; I've tried drugging me. It's all horrible...and that's before you get to the part where they're traumatized by their new home location. Well, that's my experience; I hope you and Licorice both are happy in your new location!

before you travel or take your animal to the vet. Leave the carrier out and open for the pet for a week before you transport them ( if possible ). Put a toy or treats in the carrier during this time. Your pet will grow to like and trust the carrier and will be at ease in the same.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

I'm sure Max would love this carrier
and be perfectly comfortable in it.

Take care

Good advice... (Reply to this comment)

I have a cat named Max (I didn't name him) who sounds a lot like your cat. He weighs almost 16 lbs, and this after a digestive issue that caused him to lose weight, and he's very neurotic. I'd hate to ever stash him in a cargo area of a plane. If I had to fly with Maxie, he'd be carry-on, and I'm glad to know there are good products out there to accomodate him. Thanks!
