What a terrifying experience! (Reply to this comment)

I'm glad you all finally had this ghastly nightmare come to an and, and you were safe. But the emotional stress alone --- I felt it just READING your letter. It will hopefully get some kind of response....at least one would hope so. It doesn't sound like American Airlines is too concerned about the human factor though. To not have airline staff there to meet you is irresponsible beyond belief, plus what it was like - before you landed. It gives me goose bumps, Jo. Glad to be alive indeed!

How Horrible! (Reply to this comment)

Glad you're all fine, after that traumatic experience, Jo! What an absolutely horrendous climax to a holiday/vacation. I've had several similar scares on flights on Delta and TWA (once on each; each returning home to D/FW). And, like you, no official of either airline was at the gate to greet us when we landed. I wonder what they could be thinking (if thinking at all!) to allow such blatant disregard of their 'bread & butter,' their customers.
Glad to have you back, safe and sound.

that's a NIGHTMARE! Something similar happened to my brother on a recent flight to Vegas from Kennedy Airport in NYC. I think it was "National" Airlines, but they were preparing all passengers for an emergency landing and they thought they were all going to die. It was horrible. People sobbing, screaming, etc. They landed in Amarillo successfully. Penn of Penn and Teller fame was on the flight too and wrote about the experience on his website.
Glad you're OK!!!

Gives me goose bumps just thinking about it.
Let us know what happens. I mean, if AA replies and how.

I've had lack-of-communications problems with AA before... (Reply to this comment)

of course, I nearly didn't crash, but I'm really surprised since my was had to be 100 years old if it were a day. We had to sprint through Dallas airport, and I busted open my recently recovering foot that I just had stitches taken out of, and we nearly missed out flight because of the lousy services of American Airlines.
I have never flown them again. I prefer Delta.
Good job at relaying your experiences. I felt fear as I was reading this.

Nope, I can't think of anything more frightening than being told I have to remove my glasses because of an emergency landing. I have less than 6 inches of uncorrected vision left. Great letter. Now, will they respond?

I have flown many times but never had this kind of scary experience. I think I would have thrown up. So glad you are still here to write this review. They owe you a free flight to whereever you want to go for their lack of concern and contact.

I fly 60,000 to 70,000 miles a year, so I'm pretty jaded when it comes to hassles, but this one is truly freakish. I certainly hope someone at AA takes a good hard look at their customer service, not to mention maintenance.
Bravo! Whew!
