I wasn't talking about the start up and shut down sounds I was talking about this little tweet that the phone makes every time it enters a service area and I recently found out that it is the "Roam Alert", but thank you very much for your help!

Powering on and powering off sounds (Reply to this comment)

You can turn off the start up/shut down sounds. Go to the menu -> Sounds and item #5 is "Power On/Off" - just set that to off and your phone will turn on and off silently.

I just purchased this phone a week or so ago. I am having some difficulties, but basically really like it, so shall exchange it for another of the same before the time is up to return/exchange.

I think they could find a more flattering picture to show. It is a sharp looking phone I think.
