You made my day, dear lady, reviewing this album. This album remains a classic 30 years later and you did a wonderful review of it. I always got a kick out of Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan from The Turtles singing backup on it --- that just adds to the pleasure of listening to it for me.

Don :)

Thank you immensely for the clarification and correction. Bad me for not knowing more. Darn it all I'm going to have to bone up on my pre-birth music!

Thanks again. I mean it.

DESPITE their influence on contemporary brit pop and (in large part) because of their nonsensical lyrics.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time, but most of my friends have never even heard of T. Rex. It's good to know I'm not alone in my love of them.

Yup. Really. Believe it or not. I just found their top Billboard hits:

1971 Hot Love No. 72
1971 Ride A White Swan No. 76
1972 Bang A Gong (Get It On) No. 10
1972 Telegram Sam No. 67

Shocking, eh? I guess T. Rex is one of those bands everybody always remembers and thinks was more popular in their time than they actually were...

What About "20th Century Boy"? That was hit I think in the U.S., sort of. I love Marc Bolan. Especially that line in "Get It On (Bang A Gong)", "You're dirty and sweet, oh yeah". That's how Prince became the sex freak because of him. That album is also considered to be one of the greatest Sex albums of all-time. I really need to get that album.

Of course I don't "remember," but as far as I could tell Bang A Gong was it :)

Thanks for the comment.

"the band had just one hit in the United States (Bang a Gong Get It On..."

For some reason I always thought Jeepster was a hit in the U.S. too -- but you might be right. Maybe it's just that Jeepster *SHOULD* have been a hit too ;-)

Nice review!
