The Bottom Line Use Google, but be very specific in your queries. Most search engines it is better to be general. On Google, this returns too many results.

First, I must say that this is the first search I go to anymore. If Google doesn't find it, it usually isn't out there. Though I do use some other search engines occasionally, Google is my favorite for many reasons.
There have been many occasions when I was having trouble finding whatever it was I was searching for. Most other search engines came up with "Nothing found." Google, however, found the information I was looking for.
I also love the Google toolbar. I have added this to my browser. It can be used to do an entire internet search or to search the site you are on. For instance, my husband was recently on a site that sold tool boxes. There were tons of boxes on there, but no prices. We looked everywhere on the site and simply couldn't find them. I went to my trusty Google toolbar and typed "price". I hit "search site" and low and behold, it found a price list of all of their products. I have used this feature many times since I downloaded the toolbar.
Though this is my favorite search engine, it is not without its faults. Since the search is apparently not as narrow as some other search engines (which allows it to find things others don't), it will sometimes find sites that don't really pertain to your search. A site may mention one of the words in your search, but then never speaks of it again. It will still sometimes appear on the Google search results. This makes you have to search through many sites if you have a fairly general search topic. Also, I have had several instances where I chose the site it found only to be told I cannot access it (in my experience, often they are school sponsored sites that are for students only).
There are ways to remedy these problems, however. I have found that making my searches more specific, rather than more general, works best on Google. Also, if you want the words in your search to appear together putting the words in quotations will assist in this. (For example, a search for Irish Cream will bring up anything having the word Irish or the word Cream. The search "Irish Cream" will only find things that have the two words together.) In addition, Google ranks results, which aids in choosing results.
