Defect or dingbat? (Reply to this comment)
by matahari35
I got my free Gevalia thermal coffee-maker (the one that brews directly into a carafe) and darn if the thing hasn't overflowed the last few times I've used it. I really don't think I am filling it too full. I got it at the end of the year last year. Any more recalls?

I got this same coffee pot and I loved it.I must agree that I had to change brands of coffee because I found a cheaper brand locally that taste very good! I hope you are doing fine. Take care, Eva Dunkle (dunkjam)

Great review (Reply to this comment)

when our last coffee maker from them bit the dust, we decided to upgrade to Krups II Cafe Duomo, and I've enjoyed being able to brew my own espresso.
But I miss some of the coffees offered by Gevalia (we also cancelled our regular deliveries)...one, was an obscenely expensive Jamaican Blue that was worth every single penny...the most outstanding coffee I'd ever had.
Yummm....coffee.... :)

I'm Not Allowed To Watch Infomercials.... (Reply to this comment)

...but have seen this offer many times in email. And until they learn how to better screen SPAM, this e-quivalent to television's infomercials will just keep coming my way, tempting, cajoling, urging me on.
Thanks to this nifty tell-all review, I can now make an unemotional buying decision, which certainly perks up my morning.
Many thanks Cybersis!

working the Gevalia deal for simply years! They do give away some pretty neat stuff and the coffee is generally decent if pricey. Those white coffee canisters they used to dole out are even seen in sales as "collectible" but don't fall for that one!
The last time we succumbed to a Gevalia offer the coffee bricks arrived with broken seals. Bill called and they offered to send replacements but he declined. We kept the coffee maker, however, and used it until its demise a few months ago (just quit in the middle of the brew cycle). I replaced it with a fancy-scmancy Cuisinart (half-price at SmartBargains.com + lots of MyPoints) which does exactly what you would expect from a coffee maker that retails for $100. Alas, it has yet to master the self-pour-and-serve-in-bed trick despite hours of motivational training on my part....

for the great review. I've always wondered about Gevalia coffeemakers/coffee, and this tells me everything I would ever want to know.
Oh, BTW, a girlfriend of mine, from Jamaica, has a daughter named Gevalia. She wanted a different name for her.

If you write to our CL, I'm sure you'll get a picture on here in a -- oops! Well, I'll be durned, it's my favorite gal. LOL
You've really piqued my interest in this Gevalia deal. My husband was laughing at the ad they sent to his email the other day!
Looking into it - and thanks. Loved reading this.

My old (and we're talking 10+ years here) 4-cup coffee maker from Gevalia definitely DID sport the 'Krups' logo. I think it was raised letters pressed into a metalic ovalish rectangle that was either riveted or maybe just sticky-adhered to the base unit. I can see it clear as day in my head ... and it's listed here on Epinions as the "Krups Gevalia 4-Cup Coffee Maker"
I wonder if it just got to expensive for them to give this brand away or what?!?!?
I have a Gevalia full sized maker that I've never taken out of the box ... saving it till my current coffee maker dies ... but I may have to unpack it tonight just to satisfy my own curiosity ... NOT that I don't believe anyone ... but it's just one of those "Hmmmmm ..." kind of things, you know?
Verrrrrrry Interesting!

idea who actually made my Gevalia coffeemaker, but I do know that it did not manage to survive my eldest son's attempts to make coffee by putting water/coffee/sugar all into the water reservoir in the hopes of saving himself a few steps.....sigh.....I really liked that coffeemaker!

Hi, and welcome to Home (Reply to this comment)

and Gar . . . oh! It's you! Good to hear from you!
:D
You have me bent on a mission to find if my Gevalia coffee maker (the programmable model) has any tell-tale signs in it, on it or around it. It's our back-up maker, so it might take a while.
Hold on, I'll be right back!
Nope -- no big names. Just "Global Marketing" in Parsippany, NJ. The box on mine does note, "Made Exclusively for Gevalia" (in China), but does not say by what company.
Darn.
I must say, a review that sends me unpacking is a good review.
Encore! Encore!
