I've had my Jukebox for about a year now and use it daily without ever having a problem. I have read quite a bit of negitivity here and other places, but have not experianced any of it.
The 4 main gripes I see are
1) Poor quality of MP3's. That really has nothing to do with Archos now does it. Try encoding your MP3's at a higher bitrate and you'll be supprised. And the Jukebox supports WAV files and you have plenty of room for them so that MP3 quality shouldn't really be an issue.
2)Needs more functions/larger playlists...... This can easily be taken care of by up grading your firmware. There is a great free aftermarket firmware at http://rockbox.haxx.se/ installing this firmware is easy and safe and 10X better than Archos' version. In fact shortly Archos will begin shipping with the Rockbox firmware as well as their own.
3)Difficult controls. There is a learning curve with any new technology you get, remember your first CD player and how complicated it was compaired to your tape deck? The Rockbox firmware also changes the controls a bit which makes it easier to use also.
4) Slowness of the USB 1 interface. You can transfer about a gig an hour. So you need to be a little patient with this when loading it up for the first time, but thats life and not really that much of a drawback.
So those were the cons (if you want to call them that)
The pros have all already been stated in other reviews, let me just say that I concur.
LONG battery life, increadible reliability, huge ammounts of storage, and I could go on and on.
It is also easily modifiable if you have some basic computer and technical skills. It will void your warrenty though so make sure you know what you're doing before you do it
