| Airmark1's Full Review: Breads of India |
I have been eating at "Breads" for over three years now. Simply put, it is my favorite Indian restaurant.
Now, when I say that I have been eating there for a few years that is somewhat of an understatement. I eat at Breads at least once a week. I am addicted. Luckily I share this addiction with my girlfriend. The owners know us both. We have received calls from the them telling us when they are serving our "favorite" meals. If that is not enough of a clue, let me put it this way, the owner has actually had dreams with me in them.
Let's get down to the important stuff.
WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE WHY HOW?
WHO - Two Indian-Americans run the restaurant.
WHAT - Breads serves a daily changing menu. There are always a choice of: Chicken Tikka, Lamb, Chicken Curry, and Two Vegetarian Curries. The way that these dishes are cooked is what changes daily. ALSO, there is usually a weekend special that consists of some type of seafood theme. My favorite - Dill Chicken
After you decide on a MAIN DISH, you can then - MUST : ) - decide on bread to accompany your food. The breads, like the food, change daily, and tend to be related to the days dish. My favorite - Dill NAAN
Next, you decide on a drink. The traditional Pepsi, to the tasty lasi or chai. My favorite - Pepsi
Sides? Well, not really a lot of choices here. Raita is the only real choice. Raita, a yogurt concoction, is a must for any dish. Spread it on top of just about anything.
Lastly, it is dessert time. There are only two choices. Gulab jaman and Rice pudding. The gulab jamam in my favorite, and it is a must every time. When you get it, be assured that the silver on top of the dessert is edible.
There are a few things that tend to "get" people that are not familiar with the Breads experience. First, the restaurant is very small. It serves about 30 or so at a time. The rest of them have to wait, outside in the rain, cold, heat, car fumes, etc. Second, if you plan on eating on the weekend, get ready to wait in line, possibly for a long time. There is usually a small wait for a party of only two, but if you have 4 or more, bring something to read; you are going to be there a while. Third, they do not accept credit or debit cards. CASH ONLY FOLKS.
WHEN - Breads hours are as follows
11:30 AM - 2:30 PM LUNCH
5:30 PM - 9:30 PM DINNER
They are now open for LUNCH on SUNDAYS!!
