Cons: IN 2 YEARS, THEY'VE CHANGED A LOT OT PRICING, AND I THINK I MISSED OUT
The Bottom Line: CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH U.S. CELLULAR WORKS WITH ME, NOT AGAINST MY NEEDS!

In Sept., of 2001, I needed a phone that was easy for me to use, to keep my son safe. I had neglected getting a cellular, as I hadn't paid that much attention to whom offered what, in services for the money. But, when my son's life was threatened, as he was kidnapped, brutalized, by strangers, in his very own home, while he had no phone; I believed it was time to keep us connected! His home was broken into, he was taken captive, tortured by 'would be' thieves, except that he had nothing they wanted! End result, he got tortured for many hours with a knife and a gun, with no way to call for help, even afterwards! When I found out, we got cellular phones!
The easiest place for us to sign up was with U.S. Cellular, as it was on our mall. We went there, and we signed up for a program that allowed my son, my husband, and myself to be on one bill. This was before they had any family plan available in our area. THIS did cost me far too much money! Since that time, my son signed up for regular phone service, and didn't need to have a cellular. Still, I had signed a 2 year contract for the three of us!
My husband never did use his phone. He put it on 'charging' and never remembered to take it on out of town trips, etc.. So, I was left with one phone being used, and bills for three. This was quite expensive!! I called Customer Service, and told them of my problem. At first, they were not receptive to dropping any billing. I continued to call. I think that I called them so much, that they decided to 'get rid of my annoying calls' by allowing me to be billed for the one phone that was in use, period!
Now, I use my phone a lot! I am only billed for the one phone. I travel a lot, and using telephones in Hotels can be very, very expensive. I use my cellular to make calls to home. I pay $39.95 each month, for my program with U.S. Cellular, and I talk as much as I need to. Business people call me for my store, family can reach me, as I dart here and there. Personally, I don't feel safe without my phone, anymore. I think it has become my personal 'blankie'. But, then, in the last two years, I have traveled a lot,been in a car wreck caused by a drinking driver, been drugged and raped once, and have gone through my son's personal trajedy, as well. I appreciate my cellular service and the fact that Customer Service, with U.S. Cellular let me off the hook, although, I had signed the contract for all three of us. That is the point of this epinion. With this company, they were willing to listen to my reasons for needing to get down to one phone, contract or not, and they really did listen.
On one trip, my cellular should have worked in the area, but didn't. I called Customer Service and explained that I had been at the Furniture Mart, and I needed to reach the sales people there, but was unable to do it! They adjusted my bill, big time. They took my word for it. I liked that.
I recommend this company, as the Customer Service people are willing to hear my/your concerns and to take care of these concerns in a timely manner. . . even if it means their company gets less money, and you get money refunded! I appreciate that very, very much. You can trust this company.
