Regal Entertainment Online Store for The Gift of Movies

I am reviewing a great site where I bought my mom “The Gift of Movies.” The site is Regal Entertainment Group http://www.regalentertainmentgroup.com/ which I found by searching the Internet.
For those of you who read me regularly you may be wondering if I am actually buying my mom several items for her birthday and Mother’s Day. For reasons beyond the scope of this review, the answer if yes. Feel free to e-mail me if you need further assurance.

Regal Entertainment Group (from the website) “is the largest motion picture exhibitor in the world. The Company's theatre circuit, comprising Regal Cinemas, United Artists Theatres and Edwards Theatres, operates 5,663 screens in 524 locations in 36 states.”
My mom has started going to the movies again so in spite of her not needing this gift I thought it was a cute idea. I found this site and the first great thing about it is how easy it was to find out if there was a theater in this group near her. I entered her zip code and it showed me a theater very close to her and while doing this review, just out of curiosity I typed in my zip code and found out my local theater is part of this group.
I like the fact that on each page the links to other pages are clearly marked. Those links take you immediately to pages that are easy to read, understand and are comprehensive such as Cinema Art (Critically-acclaimed films, alternative productions, restored classics and first-run foreign movies); Gift Certificates and Discount Tickets;
Map of Locations, Movie Ratings Questions and Answers; and
Open Caption.
I wanted a gift certificate and was shown 4 options. The options are great and I think meet anyone’s need if you are looking for a gift for someone to whom you are close or a business associate. The gift certificates I chose are listed just as that and come in $10.00 increments. All I had to do was, using a pull-down menu, choose how many certificates I wanted.
Purchasing and Receiving:
It is really that simple. After I chose the number I submitted it. I could choose to register if I thought I would be doing this regularly or just use the checkout button. The next page during the credit card process I found out that the shipping is $8.00 for standard ground, $15.00 for 2nd day and $20.00 for overnight shipping. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted as payment.
“We are told that if order is placed by 11:00 a.m Mountain Time, Monday-Friday the order will be shipped out the same day. If order is placed after 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time, Monday-Friday or on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, the order will be shipped out the next business day.” I have been buying online to know that shipping and actually getting the purchase are very different and we are not told when to expect the item. It sounded to me as if I would get it within a couple of days so I had the gift certificates shipped to my house so I could put them in a nice card.
After several business days without receiving them (I got a confirmation after my order was placed from the site but never an e-mail confirmation.) I e-mailed the company on April 18 asking if they could give me some idea when to expect the gift certificates (There is a comments link which I used.) I received an e-mail of concern on the the day the certificates came, April 21.
In any case, I got the gift certificates which aren’t much to look at but do have a place for to: and from: on them. It would be nice for $8.00 in shipping for basically nothing heavier or bigger than a legal sized envelope to get gift certificate cards.
My final thoughts:
In spite of my complaining a bit, I would do this again in a second. I think these make a great gift and you do have other options such as a gift certificate for two, which includes popcorn and drinks. This is an easy to use site. The cards came in a bubble envelope and are in perfect shape. They make a great gift for Father's Day, graduations, birthdays or a "just thinking of you" present."
