Danny has never had junk food (candy, chocolate, soda, etc) and I can't fathom the thought of rewarding him with something that is bad for him. I want to start good eating habits early.

What great advice! (Reply to this comment)

Yours is the best reward system I've heard so far. Most people have just been telling me to give my daughter one M&M for a potty pee-pee and 2 M&Ms for a potty pooh-pooh. It just didn't seem right to me to reward my daughter with junk food. I simply hadn't thought of using a delayed reward tactic. Thanks for removing my potty-training blinders.

The beginner.... (Reply to this comment)

It's funny that I came across this opinion today as I just started potty training yesterday with my two year old. So far he's just been runnung around with his pants off and we've playing the potty game...he sits down, he gets up, he sits down, he gets up, and so on, and so, on....thanks for the great advice!!

LOL - Sure, but don't expect me to potty-train her. I played a very little role in this milestone. I give all the credit to Danny. But, maybe he would be willing her point her in the right direction!

A little confused.. (Reply to this comment)

Scratching my head about the pee-pees and poops.
Poops is easily understood. A "poop" is a single unit of measurement, with "poops" being the plural.
But pee-pees.. how does one measure a single unit of pee-pee?? Which leads to: What would be universally accepted as a single unit of pee-pee?
Aside from my over analysis of poops and pee-pees, this article was cute from the get-go.

My college professor (Reply to this comment)
by daisymae76
somehow got on the topic of potty training and told us that when she was training her son, she needed a tool of motivation as well. She got little paper boats and had them floating in the toilet. She told her son to aim and sink the boats! He loved to do it and was very excited to use the toilet because he got to sink these boats! I think this is a hilarious and wonderful idea. Thought I'd share!
Great review!

Thanks for sharing this. This is a great idea (the way you got him interested). I have an almost 2 year old so potty training is in the near future I'm sure.
I have the potty and he likes to sit on it b/c he knows it's his, but he is still not ready.
He doesn't know what it's for and he can't talk to me yet (not very well anyway). So it will be longer before we really start working at it, but I have already decided I'm leaving it up to him, I'm not pushing him.....
Hey I figure this....I'm sure he won't graduate high school in diapers! LOL
Great review Carolyn, as always. :-)

Re: Excellent point (Reply to this comment)

I totally agree with you Carrie about the Pull Ups being all about marketing. As soon as Danny felt pee running down his leg, he freaked, "Change me, I'm wet! Pee pee everywhere!!!" That only happened twice. Pull Ups are useless in my opinion. As a matter of fact, I have a bunch of Pull Ups in the closet that I received as freebies...anyone want them?

Excellent point (Reply to this comment)

...." We opted for big boy underwear instead of training pants or pull-ups because I wanted him to know when he had accidents"
I so agree with this suggestion. When I was potty training my son, friends suggested I use the Pull Ups. I decided against it, believing that if he FELT he was wet, then he would more likely run to the potty. I was correct and Alex became dry before his playgroup pals did (much to the chagrin of competitive parents!). I do feel Pull-Ups" are a marketer's dream and quite frankly are not worth the extra money after all those years of diapers!
Great review
