| phineaskc's Full Review: Jockey® Cotton Boxer Briefs - 3 Pack |
Boxer briefs aren't just for boys anymore. Since the early eighties (and possibly before that), trendy young women have been wearing them as fashionable shorts. I can recall being sent home once to change clothes after wearing them to school. But boxers are no longer just a fad for me and I buy almost nothing but when shopping for underwear.
Jockey cotton boxer briefs are tops on my list of unmentionables for comfort and quality. Now you might be wondering why on earth would a girl want to wear some drab drawers instead of something silky and sexy? It's simple ladies. Like with most apparel, designers of men's fashions make it to last and with women they tend to go more for the look rather than quality. I have found with men's jockeys and some other brands that they paid closer attention to the quality of materials more so than the available colors and sex appeal. Granted, men have certainly become more fashion conscious and the designs show much progress. When shopping for undergarments like t-shirts and boxers, I skip the flimsy selections in the ladies section and go straight to the men's department.
Have you ever noticed that the cotton and stitching in the men's items are sturdier and thicker than the women's? Take note next time you are browsing a department store. So now you know why I prefer the boxers but why do I prefer the Jockeys brand?
Jockeys boxer briefs come in a limited variety of styles and fabrics. I prefer the basic 3-pack of classic boxers for lounging around the house or even with my favorite t-shirt while I weed the garden. They look like shorts but are a whole lot more comfortable with their soft 100% cotton and they don't ride up the thigh like shorts do when participating in activities. The stitching is much stronger than that found in women's undergarments and made to last. The cotton is thick and soft with an elastic waistband that's approximately one inches wide that doesn't bind.
The downside to the Jockeys is that they are limited in color and designs. The multi-packs are mostly solid colors with the standard white drawers thrown into the mix. You may have also noticed that men's apparel of just about any kind is generally more expensive than the women's wear. My guess is that they know a majority of men (straight men that is) hate to shop and do so less frequently than women so they are looking for something simple that lasts a zillion years regardless of cost. Designers and manufacturers know that women as a rule purchase more frequently and tend to select looks over quality especially at a great rate.
I am not saying that boxers are for all girls but for this girl, they are the only way to go. Not only are they more comfortable than any women's undergarments I have worn but in an odd way, I think I even feel a little more empowered when I wear them (okay that's silly or is it?). I strongly recommend purchasing just one package of these next time you are shopping and let me know what you think. You don't have to tell anyone that you are wearing them underneath your favorite jean shorts or even your dress - it can be your secret. I have no doubts that you will tell me how hard it will be to wear regular drawers again.
I have now expanded my collection to include a variety of colors and designs from another favorite, Joe Boxer. Although the JB line in my opinion has cheapened since becoming a popular item at one particular discount department store, they still can't be beat for unique and fun designs for any gender.
So make the switch ladies and try slapping a pair of boxers on your hind end next time you are lazing around the house or catching up on some spring cleaning. Your butt will thank you.
**** I haven't written an Epinion since 2001 I think and must thank mimi369 for her persistence. I had forgotten how fun this can be but I fear I am a tad rusty. Thanks mimi for the invite to this write-off. *****
