Pros:The amazing view from our room.
Cons: Some staff not as professional as I had expected.
The Bottom Line: Will most likely stay there again, and have told many people to as well. A perfect honeymoon location.
My Husband and I were married in WDW in 99. We spent part of our honeymoon in the Grand Floridian, the honeymoon turret room...amazing!! An enormous room, clean, well decorated and the view!!! From our mostly glass walled room we could see the pavilion we were married in, the Polynesian and Contemporary resorts...oh and some castle across the lake. I knew we would probably have a nice view, but I could have never imagined being able to sit hypnotized by the castle as the colored lights changed from purple to blue to pink, I was transfixed. This particular room is in the main building and has its own short hallway off the hall atop the lobby, we could leave our door ajar and listen to the pianist or the jazz trio in the evenings and still have our privacy. My only complaint about the room was the tub, a whirlpool tub the size of a small boat was nice, I suppose, but nearly impossible to get in and out of without falling onto the floor(or into the tub). The concierge and front desk staff were quite helpful and attentive, the concierge moving us to this room from a standard one after I mentioned that we were married there. The housekeeping/support staff left much to be desired. Our room never seemed to be made up before 4 or 5 in the afternoon, and since we usually returned during this time, more than once we had to waste time in the lobby, waiting for it to be completed. I got into an elevator while wandering one day, and while this was a main elevator, several staff members got on and had what I would consider an inappropriate conversation to have within earshot of a guest. The bus schedule was a bit odd, with none to get me to the shopping area before four pm unless I switched once, the result was a 75 minute bus ride. I loved my honeymoon and this hotel and remember it fondly, I only recently noticed that some of the famous Disney standards seem to be lower than usual. Considering the price, I can (and will in Oct 2001) be just as happy at Dixie Landings. I hope Disney can fix the employee problems they seem to be having, but would still go there even if I had to make my own bed. ºoº
