Pros:Good price
Cons:Low end video, slow ram, Extremely hard to upgrade
The Bottom Line: Don't buy Compaq in this series if you want to do any modifications.
I purchased the Compaq as a refurbished unit a little over a year ago. It has been a decent machine, but one must remember that this is still a low end machine. The CD-ROM drive is slow and does not write very well at higher speeds. I usually have to slow the CD-ROM down to an 8 speed in order to get the proper reliability on burning CD's. This machine is OK for Word processing and minor graphics, but I would not recommend it further than that.
The case is very small and as a result generates a fair amount of heat on the case components.
It is an extremely hard machine to upgrade. I am having great difficulty just opening the case to get complete access to the CD-ROM drive for replacement.
If you plan to never make any modifications to this system, it is an OK buy, but otherwise, stay away.
