Don’t quit your day job, but get ready to fill your piggybank!
by Greatpilgrim | Mar 02 '01
Although our main reason for being here isn’t to make mula, it doesn’t hurt to have the money come rolling in, does it?

Excellent Advice for Beginners (Reply to this comment)
by bethesdalily
Victoria,
As my profile shows, I am a new member and a perfectionist. Well, my profile does not show the latter, but it is the case. I can honestly say that I am not concerned about money at this point, since I am not certain as to how to redeem my Eroyalties even when I can! However, I am very concerned with being of assistance to others. Your tips were insightful and reflected things of which I had never before thought. Thank you.
Blessings,
Nicole

Great Tips for the NEWBIE (Reply to this comment)
by deme31
I just joined today and found your opinion very valuable.

I started writing opinions without first checking into the advise section for members on do's and dont's, etc. I was starting to get nervous at the thought of posting another review. I have posted 5 reviews so far and luckily the comments were very helpful with giving me advice on how to improve future opinions.

However, after reading along these vast opinions, some members give the "newbie" the impression that they're going to shoot you down the first time you give the wrong title or review/& or comment.

Your review makes the newcomer feel more welcomed. You also made me feel more comfortable with commenting on what I feel inspired to write about, as well as hoping to earn some money in the future.

Thank you for your input and time with this subject.

Taking your advice (Reply to this comment)
by christineb1970
...and commenting on your essay. As a newbie I appreciate your advice. I've read a few of your epinions so far- have you read anything by Sheri S Tepper? If not try The Gate to Women's Country- that's her best work.

Very thoughtful and valuable advice (Reply to this comment)

I read this review with great interest. I've been contributing to Epinions, sporadically, for about 18 months and your advice makes good sense to me.

More power to you, and to all of us! (Reply to this comment)
by carriedv
I really appreciate the clarity of your writing style, and your generosity in educating us newcomers to Epinions. I've just read 5 or so of your reviews and essays, so please consider this a compliment to your talent and contributions in general, not just for this single essay! Thank you for what you do. (and I really like the painting you selected for your profile)

I am so happy that in your review you added to post comments. I feel that Epinions is somewhat lacking in their sense of community in the comments department, it may just due to the lack of email alerts, but I like comments and I feel that they help everyone in the longrun.

So, again-Thanks.
Happy writing to you.

As a newbie I found your opinion to be very informative. You mentioned areas of epinions I had no clue about. (ie... Just In) I hope more newbies find this opinion as I fell it's a MUST READ for any newbie.

Some of your advice was simple common sense stuff, but isn't that what we always tend over look? So I thank you for making me think about the obvious as well as for all the holes your opinion helped fill.

Suggestion to specialize in one or two areas. (Reply to this comment)
by luv_sunshine
You made several good points in your article. However, the one that I like the most is your suggestion to specialize in one or two area.

Another good tip is to write your epinions in batches of 2. especially is one is a 1c hit and th eother is a 3cent. post the 1c first , let it hang out there for an hour or so , then post the 3c. when people check out your profile they almost always read your most recent (3c) epinion first ..

The Allure of Cash Jingling (not like in Jingle Bells...) (Reply to this comment)
by plinker
It seems that there are too many people who don't want to fool with pennies (from Heaven?) and are waiting for lightning (striking again...). Personally, with apple pies at Mickey D's going for two-for-a-buck, pennies are just fine. These pennies, added to the Themestream pennies, will take me there. Now, to find something that will pay enough to get me to Outback...

Thank you very much (Reply to this comment)
by emmababy2000
I am glad I decided to read this piece. I am a new member, and don't know much about epinions yet, but I could understand everything you said. Some other articles were hard to understand since I didn't know what they were talking about due to inexperience with this site. Thank you for the valuable information.

I share many of your thoughts. I'm not here to make a million either, but I would like to contribute and maybe educate some.

I have somewhat tried to specialize in what I know best, medicine!

Thanks for sharing.

First of all, you gave great advice, thanks.
I leave comments pretty much everywhere, but I don't think that many people actually read and rate back :( I guess some is better than none.
