Sorry about that. That was my first time posting & I wanted to avoid writing a book...

It all started with an email to find out what my cancellation fee would be. (After opening a Sprint account for my daughter, I found they had much better plans than Nextel with a lot more bells & whistles). I received a response back a couple of days later saying I should call in (not the first time for this type of response from Nextel Online).

I placed a phone call to the number given and held for about 10 minutes. I explained to the rep what I needed and she indicated that she had to transfer me to another department. I said that was fine and I was transferred (this was just before 7:00 PM PST). At that point, I held for a rep for 20 minutes and then was disconnected by Nextel with a message stating that the center closed at 7:00 (this was at 7:19 PST) and to try back another time. I don't understand why they had me hold for 20 minutes and then disconnected me. Why didn't the first rep tell me they were going to close and have me call the next day? Why didn't they close the phone lines down but handle the people left in the queue?

So, the next day I called back and held again. At that point I was pretty angry due to being treated so poorly. I explained to the rep what had happened. Initially, she was very rude and cold and tried to argue with me that she could not transfer me to the accounts dept (I think that was what it was called) even though I was transferred the night before. Finally she decided she wanted to help. She told me I could put my phone on Standby mode for the last couple of months of my contract for about seven dollars a month plus taxes & fees and then cancel it at the end of my contract. That sounded like a good plan to me so I had her put the phone on standby.

Yesterday, I spoke to another lady, trying to cancel my account. She told me that I would have to pay cancellation fees because when my phone was in 'Standby' mode it did not count towards my contract. So to avoid the fees, I have had to have my phone turned back on for another couple of months before I could cancel it.

Basically what it comes down to is horrible customer service and how badly they treat their customers. I have no patience for bad customer service... There are plenty of companies out there that will appreciate my business and I will use one of them.

I hope this helps...let me know if you have any questions...

In you review regarding the general services about Nextel Customer it appears that you only skim the surface.
