With this catch a call you can go on-line without worrying about missing any calls, I wouldn't be without it. I have two computers, therefore two catch-a-calls. About half the time if not more I go on-line, the phone will ring - where would I be without my catch-a-call(s).
Now, it requires you to get call waiting which the computer warns against when you have the internet. In setting up internet options, set it up as though you DO NOT have call waiting. It sounds like lying but how can a machine know the difference.
You need to hook your phone up to the catch-a-call so you can just pick up the phone and talk. Otherwise you'd have to disconnect from the internet and wait for another ring and then answer. The internet will disconnect if you're on the phone longer than a couple seconds. But if you have not closed the window you were working in, you can just reconnect to the internet and go right back to work.
You can also hook your fax machine up to the catch-a-call. Sorry, I have no experience with this part of the machine.
I have called people who were on the internet and their phone line would be busy all evening. If they had catch-a-call they could have answered my call.
Also, I've called people who had the internet answering machine (you know the ones that are always advertised), but you never know if the person received your message. And, you can never ask the answering machine a question, at least not one that gets a immediate answer. Now if they had catch-a-call, you'd know they got your message or you would have your answer.
Mine cost $49.99. I got mine (both) from PCMALL. On 5-12-03 I saw on TV that the Catch-A-Call is now available at places like Circuit City, Target, and WalMart. Prices at these locations may vary.
