Bottom line - I am more then happy with it

Let me start by saying this: It is not a perfect device; problems I have encountered suggest that the QA process is poor to say the least.
Now, after saying that, I must declare again that I am happy with the device. The advantages are too significant to be overlooked.
I wanted a device with very specific features which I'm not sure fit everybody's needs; These were my top priorities:
1. Decent portable USB 2 hard drive
2. Decent high capacity MP3 player
I compared the Archos device to the Creative ZEN. Chose this one due to the following reasons:
1. ZEN cannot be mapped as a drive, req. special software.
2. ZEN's battery cannot be replaced and requires device handling by manufacturer.
The device works perfectly when connected to the PC, that is obviously a must. It charges through USB (or charger), and has a fast USB2 connection.
It crashes rarely when playing MP3 (once every 15-20 hours). I can live with that, esp. as is has a resume option (not enabled by default).
Powered by a chargable lithuim battery which is supposed to be replacable (cannot commit to it as I got my answer by reading reviews and not from Archos support).
Minor advantages (at least for me):
1. Good outdoors recording (built in mice).
2. Can record from line in/radio.
Recommended: Yes
Amount Paid (US$): 270
